I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.

It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
Francene Odetta
It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

It is very real and close to the reality of Vietnam. A lot of American movies make the American soldiers look bad. This is wrong.
My Grandfather a United States Marine officer fight for America in Korea and Vietnam. He would not lie to me and he love freedom.
All the left-wing movie director did this in order to stop the draft.
I like John Wayne' Green Beret too.
We need patriotism in this country.
Make America great again, President Trump!

Full Metal Jacket is hands down my favorite Vietnam War movie ever. There are a lot of other great movies about that also. This is one of them, also this movie is one that less people have seen . This has Lee Ermy from Full Metal Jacket as the lead and is great as Lee is the real deal .Wings Hauser does a fine job here also . This is sort of like The Magnificent Seven in Vietnam where a few good men hold off a thousand VC in The Tet Offensive. The film has a slight patriotic slant, but does not glorify war. The politics of the war are left for other pictures. While this may be a low budget movie, it is not low quality. If you want to see an action movie set in The Vietnam War period with a fast pace and good performances from the actors I recommend this highly.

The action centers around the Tet offensive of 1968."The Siege of Firebase Gloria" explores the relationship between Sergeant Major Hafner (R. Lee Ermey)and his protégé Cpl. Di Nardo(Wings Hauser),two members of a Marine Recon squad. The movie opens with a visit to An Lap village, where all inhabitants have been killed and beheaded by the Vietcong. After some fighting the Recon team is transported by helicopter to "Firebase Gloria",which is completely unprepared for the siege of Vietcong that will follow."The Siege of Firebase Gloria" is a fairly realistic war movie with lots of shooting and some harrowing scenes of bloodshed. The acting is great, the characters are heroic and well-developed and the action almost never lets up.8 bullets out of 10.

This has some of the stupidest fight scenes of all time. If I was a veteran of any war I would cry when I see this movie, not because I would remember being in Vietnam, but because it is a poor representation of any veteran of that war. Even though the troops are carrying M16s, that movie resembles nothing like Vietnam. The Viet Cong even uniforms look like old leftover Japanese uniforms from a WWII movie. The setting is obviously some crappy Hollywood back lot. The worst scene contains a US soldier fighting "hand to hand" like in a bad martial arts movie. After he dispatches several enemy troops he says, "hey come down here and lets kick some butt!" to a helicopter in the air. He then is shot. This movie is trash.
