Mini movies (usually starring the Minions) are a bit of a tradition for the DM franchise and here we have one of the most recent of these small ones that bears a striking similarity name-wise to "The Secret Life of Pets". "The Secret Life of Kyle" is an American 4-minute animated short film that is a little spin-off for the blockbuster "Despicable Me 3". This one's about Kyle, the dog that looks like it may have gotten a bit too close to electricity to be honest. And he is in love with a poodle lady, but has a resilient competitor in an Alsatian, the main antagonist in here, who keeps stealing kyle's presents for the poodle. But of course, there is a happy ending. I felt taht this film was a touch too far away from Despicable Me 3 and the entire universe of this franchise that I admittedly quite enjoy with the exception of the MMinions movie perhaps. Kyle is okay, but not really lead character material perhaps. The sun-burnt Minions scene was the best we had in here, everything else was incredibly mediocre and this is even more disappointing looking at how many writers and directors worked on this one. So I give it a thumbs-down and as I myself liked DM 3, I would not even recommend this short we got here to my fellow fans of the one I just mentioned. Visually, it is decent, story-wise it could have been better. Not as much fun or emotion as I hoped, even if I was glad they did not fo full romance at the very end as this would have felt highly unrealistic. All in all, this wasn't a failury by any means, but it also wasn't a good watch. i give it a thumbs-down I guess and suggest you watch something else instead.
