Too much of everything

The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

How in the name of any god, and why would you as a Brit going to a wedding suddenly: go to a war zone to see if you could help and how big the 'naans' are?? That's what I really did not get. Then the story line was very weak in my point of view, every time you thought OK, not we're somewhere, the plot or story just stopped and went somewhere else. For example: they are once questioned why they were in Afhganistan? ... you expect them to answer that they were there for a wedding, but boom the camera turns and takes another view without letting them answer on that question. In the end they answered sometimes; but then it were answers like: 'Bullshit' (litteraly) on the same sort of questioning. Why did they not persevere in that they were unguilty? That made me almost angry... it is a bad thing what happens in Guantanamo, but at the same time it seemed to me as: what happens if you let a American fool interrogate a British fool? Anwering foolish, then you get foolish treatment as well I guess!

Where do i begin? Three Pakistani descendant Brits go on a trip to Pakistan for a wedding, right? The story, based on true events, takes place a few weeks after September the 11th. Once they get to Pakistan, they decided to travel to Afghanistan, allegedly, to help, here are my questions:Q- Help how?A-They even said they had decided to stayed at the Mosque right after arriving in Pakistan because they couldn't afford the local hotels. How can one help anybody with no money, and no means of transportation? Q: How come they never become friends with anyone in Afghanistan?A- They said they didn't speak the dialect and yet, they were able to make travel arrangements, buy food, and find lodging but, when it came to talking to the actual fighters, well, they didn't understand the dialect,right!Q-: Why do they go to afghanistan during the outbreak of a major international conflict?A- There are very few groups people either naive enough or selfless do-gooders capable of such occurrence, Prists, red cross volunteers, or retards. They were none of the above, this characters, all had criminal records back home.United States was at war during this episode fellas, and I believe most of this people are nothing but gangsters, deserving encasement, and some even torture. American people are the most civilized group of individuals i have ever met, they listen, and more importantly, they respect the right to individuality. This Documentary is nothing but a self promoting biased vehicle for a liberal anti-American filnmaker, having said that, and assuming the innocence of this kids to be true, nothing would have happened to them, had the chosen to stayed home...This film is anti- American garbage! So much, I thought I was watching a war show on AL-Jaazeera television!

yesterday i purchased the DVD and watched the documentary. It was schocking to see what happened to 3 young men who just made a big mistake in their life by going to afghanistan in the days of newly commenced bombing by the u.s and allies. The price they had to pay was far huge than the decision they made. After being captured by the northern alliance , they were handed over to u.s troops who then took them to their camp x.ray in Guantanamo bay. I really first time saw the techniques of torture and humiliation used by the Americans, what we know about them is the leaders of the free and democratic world. Those men were kept in animal like cages, made hounded by the dogs, every time being beaten and abused by other means. They were punished for those crimes which they didn't committed. The blame goes to the leaders of alqaeda and taliban who use these young minds for their own motives and then desert them in the time of need. While the American administration also shows its disrespect for humanity, human rights , and international laws regarding non Americans and POWs. This is a must watch to understand that everywhere in our world we have got violation of human rights. U like it or not its up to you. When there is always oppression injustice and torture in the world there is seeking of retribution. Imagine if you are put in such inhumane conditions , you are abused every moment of your life , even you are deprived of your own self respect what the out come of it will be. I wonder whether these men are having nightmares all the times they go to sleep , every where they go people try to humiliate and reject them because of their prison experience they would definitely having trouble for starting and having a new life. Now it becomes a very easy opportunity for the extremists groups to brain wash the already disturbed minds of such individuals. i am also a Muslim and i know the psyche of myopic mad irresponsible mullahs but here the U.S gov was also adding fuel to the already volatile situation. The only necessary thing at this time is to eliminate injustice , corruption, hatred and prejudice from this world. For this purpose all of the people of peace loving world must work together. It is unfortunately written in the fate of man that it fights with each other. Muslims have killed Muslims too. They still on a killing spree of each other. West has fought world wars before war on terror. United states indiscriminately bombed Vietnam. There are horrific civil wars in Africa, black men brutally killed their own kind while they always blame and react white men of race-ism. These all Things happen here in our world but important thing is that by eliminating hatred and not violating basic human rights we can at least limit the amount of carnage among the people. i again say it that you must watch and try to understand this film, than it up to you whether you like and learn form it or not

Road is the story of three British citizens of Pakistani descent who through a series of accidents and bad coincidences wind up in Taliban-held Afghanistan during the British-American bombing and occupation in the post-911 months of 2001.Ruhel Ahmed, Asif Iqbal and Shafiq Rasul are 20-year-old devout Moslem men living in England who travel with their friend Monir to Pakistan to attend Asif's wedding. After spending a few days of shopping and sightseeing, the friends attend a mosque with Asif's Pakistani cousin, Zahid. The Imam inspires them to volunteer to travel to Afghanistan and provide humanitarian aid presumably to the refugees being created in the civil strife with the Taliban on the eve of the invasion The friends decide to go to Kabul "to help." The story finds them set loose in the chaos of the invasion after the bus driver hits and kills a man, then leaves them. They try to arrange for a ride back to Pakistan, instead the ride takes them north to a Taliban stronghold. The stronghold falls and they are taken prisoner; they lose track of Monir, and he is not heard from again. They herd the three onto trucks, and the nightmare truly begins: Asif and Shafiq are sent to Guantanamo, Zahid is imprisoned in Pakistan. It's a hard movie to watch with the reenactments of the cruel treatment born by the "boys." What's always puzzled me is how did we know these detainees were Al Qaeda enablers, instrumental in the attacks of 911, sworn enemies of every good and decent American thing? The movie provides a news clip of King George saying, "The only thing I know for certain is that these are some bad people." Well we've seen the certainty of The Decider before, e.g. weapons of mass destruction and Saddam's relationship with Al Qaeda. According to MSNBC sources, as reported in Wikipedia: As of November 2006, out of 775 detainees brought to Guantanamo, approximately 340 have been released, leaving 435 detainees. Of those 435, 110 are labeled as ready for release. Of the other 325, only "more than 70" will face trial, the Pentagon says. That leaves about 250 who may be held indefinitely....For my complete review of this movie and for other movie and book reviews, please visit my site TheCoffeeCoaster.com.Brian Wright Copyright 2007
