Good story, Not enough for a whole film
Rosie Searle
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

A typical camera to video piece of hack work. I like Jake Busey, and thought he did a wonderful job with what he had to work with. The directing was amateurish at best, and the writing was terrible. David Andrews and Ray Wise had their hands full trying to drag out some form of realism with this film. I salute them for their courage, and that of most of the other actors who precipitated in this, I do use the word "film." How this got filmed is beyond my wildest dreams. Another case of using someone else money and leaving them to hold the bag and wait on the snipes. I do not mean this a a spoiler, but someone has to stand up for these bombs. Ira, North Hollywood, CA

To bring back the Vietnam era in a 2005 movie seems like a sure misfire, and that theory is confirmed by "The Rain Makers". The film lacks a lot, including credibility. The hippie talk is so outdated, younger viewers might need an interpreter. The motive behind all the violence is ridiculous, and the subplots are even worse. What you wind up with is crooked sheriffs, bikers, Indians, Vietnam vets, and hippies all involved in cartoon-like gun play and martial arts. There simply is zero meaning, and the whole thing deteriorates with each passing minute. Nevertheless, with all that said, the movie does entertain in a curious kind of way, and Jake Busey is so over the top, that you have to admire his performance. - MERK

An action movie with a plot! 1 major plot with three intriguing ones looming in the background to give a thought about connecting them that might have caused or influenced some major drama in the story. A reader with an ADD problem might get lost in the daily entrapment of characters in simple problems that might turn into a relationship ending event. The violence is intense, yet displayed in an almost ballet, yet clever flowing dance of destruction. Billy J. Burke delivers with his boyish good looks and his true savy of having been a former Delta Force Operator. I feel we will be hearing quite a bit from him in the future. The looks (exotic) the martial arts skills and his charisma, make him a star of the future. He is a man's man and Hollywood has been in the need for this kind of role model for many years.

Although this movie was not nearly so well done as Billy Jack or Rambo, and even as clumsy and awkward as it was, this movie captivated me enough to get me away from the internet for 90 minutes.Just as did Billy Jack, this movie has as a hero a Vietnam Special Forces veteran coming to the rescue of pacifists. What this flick does differently though, is to include another Vietnam vet who is on the sheriff's department who is not crooked and who has been maligned because he was stereotyped by the peace freaks as a baby killer because he fought in 'Nam.There are other differences, mostly not positive though. I would watch this movie again, so have to rate it a six or higher. Jake Busey is going to be a star one day soon.
