Absolutely the worst movie.

In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Allison Davies
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

A clairvoyant woman, inspired by a vision, smashes open a section of wall in her husband's home and finds a skeleton behind it. Along with her psychiatrist, she seeks to find the truth about who the person was and who put her there.Chris Eggertsen included the film as number seven in a countdown of the "Top Ten Underrated Horror Gems", citing its "excellent cinematography and deft use of color", though criticizing its "poor use of dubbing". The dubbing is, indeed, a bit of a problem, but that is more or less standard with these things. Often, if I understand correctly, they do not even have an audio track to begin with and dub everything later regardless of language. The film works great as a giallo. The general concept is usually someone thinks they see something, but is not quite sure, and then they have to investigate it. This works on those lines, but the "seeing" is a psychic vision, not quite accurate. A gallery is mistaken for a museum, a man with a beard has shaved, and so on.

Excellent Movie. Great Cinematography & Editing. Great close ups and actor reaction shots. Great editing. Music works well. Well put together movie.Acting is good. Dubbing OK. The story is a bit convoluted and slow in the middle. But it all works great. The ending is not great. It needed some more killings. This is a great B movie. Rating is a B. 8 out of 10 stars. 10 stars given to counterbalance the loser reviews.Excellent Movie. Great Cinematography & Editing. Great close ups and actor reaction shots. Great editing. Seven Notes in Black (1977) ** (out of 4) Italian giallo about a woman (Jennifer O'Neill) who sees a vision of a woman dying. Soon she moves into her fiances house and realizes it to be the house in her dreams so she breaks down a wall and discovers a skeleton of a woman. Her fiancé is thrown in jail but she sets out to prove he isn't the killer. Here's another film that I had heard plenty of good things about but it didn't work for me. I was really letdown by the story, which was just too simple and boring to be entertaining. Most giallos from this era are full of twists and turns but that's not the case here as Fulci seems to just be trying to tell a straight story. Another problem with the film is the lead O'Neill who comes off very stiff and not once did I buy her in the role. Fulci's direction is pretty good throughout and he handles the material quite well but one wishes the story had been stronger. There are several good moments in the film including O'Neill's visions at the start of the film, which are handled very well. Another big plus is the music score by Franco Bixio, Fabio Frizzi and Vince Tempera. Then, there's the ending where things really start to come to life. I won't spoil anything but the twist that's added here makes up for all that came before it and Fulci really manages to make some nice suspense in the closing minutes. Originally released in America as The Psychic. Original title: Sette note in nero.

The recently married and clairvoyant Virginia Ducci (Jennifer O'Neil) decides to surprise her new husband by renovating his country home, a home she has never been in. On the way she has visions of a dead woman hidden behind a wall, another woman dead with a bloodstained face and a strange red room. When she arrives at the country residence the realises that the room she is in is the one from her vision and sets about breaking down the wall, where she finds the dead body of an unknown woman. The police are very suspicious of her and her husband, he is soon pulled in and made the no 1 suspect as he had a relationship with the deceased girl. Virginia believing her husbands innocence then proceeds to investigate in amateur sleuth fashion, her visions guiding her to the shocking truth.Brilliantly paced Giallo that slowly feeds us with the information we need to discover the truth behind the ghastly visions. The beautiful O'Neill is excellent, a pity she didn't do more films in the genre. Fulci has a reputation as one of the kings of gore but here yet again he is restrained in that department, there's very little blood or gore and positively no nudity, but this film shows yet again that he could make really good films, "Duckling", "Lizard" and One on top of the other prove that he is a legend in the history of the giallo, Great story, Great score, Great ending, Superb Film!
