Though the series (like the book that followed) is somewhat dated by its focus on the then possible Third World War between Russia and the United States, a great deal of Dyer's analysis and commentary remains universally applicable.The Profession of Arms is a distillation of the series and the "unique moral world," of the officer corps which--political verbiage aside-- shares the same ethos. In all, a valuable insight as to how officers think, and why.
