I rewatched The Perfect Christmas Present last night, mainly because my wife is secretly in love with Sam Page, from his Switched at Birth role.
This movie took some nice detours away from the standard Hallmark Christmas path, notably without a gap toothed youngster.
I'm no expert, but it seems much of the movie was actually filmed in Chicago, as opposed to Vancouver or some other cheaper Canadian city.
The real treasure of this movie though, was Tara Holt as Jenny. (Refreshingly not named after some aspect of Christmas, like Holly, etc.) Her eyes magnificently shone with a life force not often seen on Halllmark movie leads! She's both beautiful and also her acting was moving, leading down the various emotional paths her character took.

A man (Sam Page) buys Christmas presents for a living. His old school acquaintance hires him to buy one for his girlfriend. But the man begins to fall for the girl who seems a better fit for him than his friend. In Hallmark land everyone is forgiving and not hurt at all. But if you think about it's a story about betrayal and stealing. Not one of the better Hallmark movies.
Christmas-Reviewer
I HAVE REVIEWED OVER 400 Christmas MOVIES.BEWARE OF BOGUS REVIEWS. SOME REVIEWERS HAVE ONLY ONE REVIEW. WHEN ITS A POSITIVE REVIEW THAT TELLS ME THEY WERE INVOLVED WITH THE PRODUCTION. NOW I HAVE NO AGENDA! I AM HONEST! I REVIEW Christmas MOVIES AS A WAY TO KEEP TRACK OF WHAT I HAVE SEEN!Tom Jacobs has built a business around helping clients find the perfect gift for their loved ones. When he's hired to find a gift for his friend's girlfriend, he finds himself in a bit of trouble: The more he researches her, the more he likes her. This film is a little different for the average Hallmark Movie. However I highly recommend this film because it gives you an idea on how to create the perfect gift for someone. What also makes this film special is the fact the scenes leading up to the conclusion are not what you expect.

The only redeeming thing I can think of with this movie is that a male is the lead character, not a female, so when I first saw this advertised, I was glad to see a different POV, hence my 2 rating instead of 1. However, within the first half hour I was just getting a creepy feeling about this one. First of all, I find it absurd that someone would hire a perfect stranger to buy a loved one a gift. Second, if this is feasible, I don't understand how anyone could make a living out of it, and third, I was feeling this character was more of a stalker than anything else. He followed the female character to her house and had a provocative photo of her on his wall with little post it notes about her likes and dislikes. I don't know. Maybe it was just me but I even watched it again, hoping I had an off night, but no, I felt he was a creepy stalker. I like Sam Page but felt there was no chemistry at all with the female lead. I've enjoyed all the new movies so far on both Hallmark channels, but this one, well, not so much.
