The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

I admit it, I liked this movie. Sure it does have its problems, but it is very well meaning and is in general amiable family drama. While it is uplifting on the whole, there are also some dark issues like the death of the mare and the cruelty inflicted onto the unicorn. The story is a little formulaic and clichéd(ie, the idea of Polly being sent to boarding school isn't exactly new territory)with some very long scenes involving the attempts to abduct the unicorn, and the script does have its ups and downs. And sometimes I worry that The Little Unicorn may be too old fashioned from an adult perspective. However, there are some pluses. The costumes and the scenery are nice to look at, and the little unicorn of the title is simply adorable. And the acting was good; Britney Bonman is very spirited as Polly and David Warner proves what a great actor he is as her grandfather. Joe Penny makes for a quite ambitious but handsome villain, while Emma Samms looks gorgeous. Shame though that George Hamilton is given little to do as the failed magician. The music score was very nicely done though. I don't think the special effects were that bad, and the ending was sweet. All in all, it is not perfect by all means, but it is worth watching. 7/10 Bethany Cox

Pathetic family film with no-one will enjoy. Notable for the poor special effects and the incredibly annoying range of accents. Most amusing moment: When the plot hinges on the girl "BEING SENT TO A BOARDING SCHOOL ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COUNTY!" Oh no! That could be at least.. a dozen miles away!! Doh! Only recommended to those who like third-rate slapstick and washed-up old actors who can't get a decent gig anywhere else (Warner, Hamilton.. I'm looking at YOU) Note to the American makers: Next time, please get our country RIGHT!! I've run out of things to say but apparently there is a ten-line minimum so.. does anyone like The Darkness?? 1/10

You don't expect to see Joe Penny in the role he is playing, however he does pull it of with passion. This just reminds you of the excellent actor he truly is. I must admit I did expect him to be the hero but alas he,s the adorably comical villain. After this role I can picture him in the wicked mustache and Penelope Pitstop being tied to the tracks ha ha. The little girl and her school allie are a delight it shows that sometimeskids are smarter than adults we need to give them more credit. Emma Samms is good in her role but you don't expect her to be cold and aloof towards anybody, but she pulls of the role well. All around touching and heartwarming feel good movie for the whole family.Joe is still sexy, he could never loose that.
