edwagreen Chauncey Street, where the Kramdens and Nortons lived, never looked so good as depicted by the famous series with Jackie Gleason. Even though the movie is in color, Ralph and Alice don't exactly look like their apartment is lacking. The original apartment told the story in a nutshell.Alice, in this movie, is far too sophisticated for the role. When she talks, it sounds like she could be a psychologist or social worker, despite lacking the educational requirements.Cedric is adequate but of course is never in the same league as the great Gleason. Ditto for Michael Epps, his interpretation of the Ed Norton character doesn't hold a candle to Art Carney.The writing here is silly;although, the Kramdens of the 2000s still have high aspirations, and Ed and Ralph will still come up with any scheme possible to fulfill those dreams. Of course, their vulnerability still exists.

oakhillfound While I was never a huge fan of the original television series, I found myself growing more and more nostalgic for it with each frame of this wretched remake. Having been a fan of Cedric the Entertainer in some of his other venues, I was terribly disappointed that his Ralph Kramden never seemed to have the spark of the original. Gleason, to his credit, always seemed to have the slow burn and the eventual eruption down to a science. The Ed Norton character always seemed the sweetly naive friend with the droll sense of humor-- all of which fails miserably in this remake. I wonder if this film would have been more successful if the studio just jettisoned the original characters and gave us a fresh batch. There was just too much baggage from the original series. (On her worst day, Gabrielle Union would be no match for the sarcastic put-downs of Audrey Meadows.) Watch the original on DVD instead. You'll thank me later.

crackinhedz As the other reviewer says, its not like the "Original" but then again, how many old TV shows-turned-movie ever turn out to be good enough? (Bewitched anyone!!) If you were seriously expecting to see this movie with the hopes it was going to be anything like the original TV show...then yes you would be sadly disappointed...Nothing says black and white like good ol' color TV.I do have to say that at times I felt like Cedric the entertainer was trying a bit too hard to play the role, but he didn't suck at it by any means...and Mike Epps...always funny no matter how lame a role he is playing. The rest of the actors did a good job at not sucking. And if you're watching this with your girlfirend (as I was), you'd be watching a movie she would probably think is "cute".To sum it up, its worth the watch (by no means would I buy it, but a good rental).

Puritan77 When I say this is the worst movie ever made, I seriously mean it! I'm not going to waste my time on this review, so I'll make it short. The Honeymooners is was my favorite show growing up, and it was ruined. Cedric the Entertainer as Raulph! I still think it's a nightmare. First of all, Jackie Gleason is dead. So the perfect ode to his remembrance was to make a film with an all black cast? Okay, not to sound racist, because I am not, but that show deserved a white cast. Why? Because THAT'S WHAT IT WAS WHEN IT WAS MADE!Here's an idea, remake the movie Boyz in the Hood ... but give the lead role to Larry the Cable Guy co-starring Jeff Foxworthy and Ben Stiller. Get the picture?All in all, The Honeymooners was the most terrible movie I've ever seen, thanks again, Hollywood, for ruining my favorite program.
