The Hitcher Audience Reviews

SpuffyWeb Sadly Over-hyped
VeteranLight I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
Limerculer A waste of 90 minutes of my life
Beystiman It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
Rainey Dawn I would have rated this one higher if the ending was different. I didn't like them trying to make a super-heroine out of the girl - that was lame, other than that it's a decent watch. 7/10
generationofswine Have you seen it? No? There is likely a very good reason for that...it stinks.Like nearly ALL the endless remakes and reboots that have been plaguing movie goers for the past decade or so....all this is, is a heartless version of the original. It has no heart. It has no soul.It is a retelling of a film that we all love and cherish...and it adds nothing to the story. It improves nothing but the special effects--which held up very well over time--and in some cases belittles the fans of the original...particularly in the fact that they remade the movie at all, without adding anything clever to it.Like so many other remakes it is a hallow shell of the original.
vbtomas I had just finished watching the movie. The ending is not so satisfying for me. Why do most of the story writers don't make happy endings? Jim should be alive too. Since, Johnny Ryder is such an evil man, the couple should have shot him with a gun whenever an opportunity comes in! What's the use of their gun? The police and the villagers were also too narrow-minded to think that Jim and Grace were the suspects! Another annoying scene is the part where the police were chasing the couple, have their own interconnected radios and updating Lt. Estiridge (if I'm not mistaken)about the chase. There's a helicopter / air support following, right? The police manning the helicopter had witnessed everything Mr. Ryder had done with his co-policemen, but still he did not inform immediately the lieutenant until he is shot by Mr. Ryder easily! Nevertheless, the movie is full of suspense and thrill. The actors are very good in portraying emotions like love, fear and pity. But, for me the most effective actor of all is Sean Bean. I'm pretty sure, everybody of us was frightened and mad on his role us the Hitcher.
stevenholley80 You would think that this being a remake might already spoil the plot for moviegoers but on the contrary this movie has some different twists that should keep you on the edge of your seat even if you saw the first movie with Rutger Hauer. Our evil villain does not as expected seem to make me skeptical that one could be in a major motion picture such as fantasy movie J R Tolkien's 2001 movie "Lord of the Ring's" as to an evil villain in this movie but I notice he does not miss a beat in being convincing in this new role. The plot COULD have been a little more complicated for my taste which is why I don't give it 10 stars. What there is of a plot does not take a rocket scientist to figure out. Other than that you throw in some twists and you actually do have a pretty surprisingly darn good movie. I would say it definitely deserves more than one star which is what they give it as a critique at Time Warner but I think they have thirteen year old little girls rate their movies. All in all I can say I enjoyed watching this movie very much and to my surprise it's not Sean Bean from "The Lord of the Ring's" who's acting carries the movie as I expected, but the two new young up and comers that were the main character's who's acting was surprisingly good. I can not right off tell you their names but I will be sure to go back and take a look after I finish my review because they were that good, enough for me to want to do that. I need to find their names so I can look for them in something more current. Hopefully they will be a little more seasoned which is what I expect to find if I am fortunate enough to find them in something else more recent. This movie is about six years old and I am honestly surprised I have not seen them since. Anyway good movie. Check it out on that night when you and the little lady are on the couch and you want the her holding on to you for dear life and protection as she freaks out during the scary parts which there are plenty to go around. Better than a horror movie in that respect because this is believable unlike most horror movies.
