I wanted to but couldn't!

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

Richard Creena plays a successful college lecturer who falls in to an obsessive and dangerous relationship with a young prostitute played by Karen Young. Both good performances by themselves - although very hard to tell whether they are true to the real life characters or whether the star power of Creena doesn't unbalance this "based on a true story" production.Commercial sex is often about control and manipulation, but in all games of control there has to be mutually agreed rules. This is a case where the rules are not understood or obeyed and is fair enough to both sides of the story even though the actions/reactions are not in themselves even or fair. In other words there was exploitation on both sides and the final scene doesn't change this basic fact.Like many low budget movies it plays the "if only" card and presents the case that only a single act of chance prevent a happy-ever-after ending to the story. I can't buy this - but if watching a movie as a time passer then you might be able to accept this at face value. My heart goes out to those effected -- not just in this story but in any like it.

My name is Richard Benedict and I am Robins oldest brother. I have been seeking for a copy of this made for TV movie for some time now; if anyone has a copy or knows where I may obtain a copy I would greatly appreciate it; especially since it is such a large part of our family. Thank you very much to all! I have difference of opinions of the way my family was portrayed but this movie and the book " Missing Beauty " are the only pieces left of this event that almost tore our family apart. I am now researching this movie so as to use it as a basis to set the record straight with a book of my own and the remaining members of my family; especially since Mr. Douglas was released after only serving nine years and the body of my sister was never recovered. These facts where left out of the movie and should be re-addressed.

please could any one help me find this movie i have searched and searched to no avail I am a true fan of Richard Crenna and I was so moved by this movie when it came out. Shame on NBC for not showing it again it may stop some young girls from engaging in prostitution and may show some "Johns" what those young girls are really looking for. your pocket book. anyway I read that some one found a copy to buy. although I have looked and looked. this movie has stuck with me for so many years I have tried to get a copy on e-bay, I have tried to buy copy's from amazon, no one has it. I hope that this gets listed and that NBC sees that there are people who remember Richard Crenna's Finest performance of his life was for a movie that they control and people would love to see it more often.

The High Price Of Passion is an outstanding character study of a true American tragedy. This movie will keep you interested from beginning to the end.I saw this for the first time on television many years back.I had not heard about the murder on the news.First off, I must say that Richard Crenna gave an Oscar worthy performance as the Tufts University professor who destroyed his own life and many others.Richard Crenna is one of the finest actors of all time in my opinion.I was just amazed at how a university professor who had everything going for him could become obsessed with a prostitute. To watch Richard Crenna play this part was painful,he played the part so well. I was totally immersed in the storyline. This movie does not come on television anymore, but it should.I recommend this movie.I was finally able to find this movie on video.
