The Godfather Audience Reviews

Baseshment I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
Fairaher The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.
Humbersi The first must-see film of the year.
Dana An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
dotdotdotanime There is no movie quite like The Godfather. It was the movie that gave me a true respect for film and motivated me to seek out something else over those few family friendly flicks I'd see twice a year at the theater. Now I watch nearly a hundred every year and yet I've never found anything quite like this masterpiece. It's the type you can watch over and over again and somehow find new things that make you respect the film even more. It's really an experience to watch and everyone should see it at some point in their lives.
ben-m-smith12 'Flawless' simply because it attempts to break no barriers. It is average in every sense of the word. The acting is not impressive, the script is not particularly outstanding, the cinematography is basic, etc. Before I had seen this film, I asked my film studies tutor what was so incredible about this film, why did she like it? She hesitated and thought, and the first and only thing she said was that 'the lighting is groundbreaking'. Well what kind of a selling point is that? And she was wrong, the lighting was only 'ground breaking' because it was too dark to play at drive-in theatres. Marlon Brando's performance is quite good and the makeup put on him is also quite impressive for the time period - but I don't advise anyone paying money to watch a film based on lighting and make up. You can recommend and love a movie for any reason and maybe you like this film past what I only see as basic qualities, which is fine - but I think it is dangerous to call this movie 'the greatest ever made' because it simply isn't in any way. If you think you have learned more about films and filmmaking (other than how not to make them) having watched this film then that is extremely unfortunate. Most people I know who are my age have not seen this movie, because it is not celebrated that much on social media. I think this is because it is losing interest amongst younger generations as they realise it's quite unimpressive.Maybe I'm wrong, let's celebrate each other's opinions about films. Thanks for listening.
Giuseppe226 Non c'è bisogno nemmeno di descriverlo, un capolavoro sotto ogni punto di vista.
