The film makes a home in your brain and the only cure is to see it again.

A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.

I loved this movie! This is probably one of my favorite movies I have seen so far. This movie is superb compared to the book I read in language arts class.First off, There are flashbacks from Eddie's life. Then, Eddie is a great man who gets killed by a car that fell off when the wires to this drop cracked open while he was trying to save a little girl. This scene was on the newspapers and the amusement park named Ruby Pier was closed down for weeks. Eddie then awakens in heaven. He goes back in time to meet the Blue Man. Blue Man thinks there are no random acts in life. Then, he in in World War II when he meets the Captain. The Captain makes sacrifices. He tries to kill Eddie while the house somewhere catches on fire, luckily when Eddie only got shot, he only received scars on his right leg. Then, Eddie meets a lucky woman named Ruby who founded Ruby Pier. Eddie and Ruby are at the diner where they talk about the times when they we're at Ruby Pier. Then, Eddie stumbles upon Marguerite with a world of different weddings. Meanwhile, there are more flashbacks of Eddie which includes the song which I really like. Finally, Eddie looks at that girl named Tala. Eddie polishes her with a soft and smooth black rock. Those five people he met we're really good people. The places he met we're all good. I recommend this movie for all people who inspires heaven because it's really good.

A very refreshing film (as I did find the book) that confirms to us uncertain humans that maybe our lives do mean more than we know.Remember that (then) ugly girl you saved from the bullies after school? How about the complete stranger you changed a tire for on the side of that desolate highway 30 years ago? This movie just might leave you wondering late into the night how it all might add up in the next world. My only problem with the film was the over-sweet and dominating presence of Ellen Burstyn's character. Her building and ubiquitous performance led me to believe she might appear in my living room along with Mary Poppins at the end of the show. Aside from that, Jon Voight delivered his utmost, and I was not disappointed.

One of the best movies I have ever seen, "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" could be the 21st century version of "It's a Wonderful Life". It is amazing how Mitch Albom manages to weave together the stories of other lives who touch the life of the main character. Eddie is certainly given a great gift: a chance to see not only how his life was affected by others' lives and how his life in turn affected the lives of those he knew, but also the opportunity to see how all lives are somehow interconnected. They range from those with whom he shared many years to those he met briefly, only in passing. There is a lesson to be learned in each one, though it is generally the same: how did you grow? How were you helped to grow? Whom did you help to grow? What stunts growth? Surely, as Eddie discovers, it is not death which is the means to enter into the deeper discovery of who one is. It was delightful to watch Eddie learn that the capacity to love and forgive is what gives the maximum growth in any human soul.

This film is about a man's journey in heaven after he dies. He meets five people in heaven, each teaching him different things that he never knew or understood before.I have read the book and was deeply touched by it. This film stays very true to the book. The film is basically a direct adaptation of the book, translating every single line of the book into audiovisual material. The end result is that there are many dialogs and scenes that simply do not work in the film. I feel that there are so many scenes that can be cut, and so many dialogs that can be omitted in the film. For example, it does not hurt the film at all if the captain does not ask if the army boys kept in touch with each other. Or the interspersed childhood scenes, which if omitted, will make the film flow more seamlessly. This is not to say that the film is not good. It is very good, the sets are meticulously created, the acting is great, and the film is touching. My only complaint is that it is too long. Spending 40 minutes on the second person and another 40 minutes on the third person is simply too long.
