if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.

I didn't have much of any expectations for "The Exorcism of Molly Hartley", as its predecessor movie "The Haunting of Molly Hartley" was a mediocre movie. But still, I had the chance to sit down and watch "The Exorcism of Molly Hartley", and since it was a horror movie, of course I did do exactly that.It turned out that "The Exorcism of Molly Hartley" was actually better than its previous movie, and it was actually a rather enjoyable and entertaining exorcism movie. Usually these types of movies have a tendency of being repetitive, monotonous and boring, but "The Exorcism of Molly Hartley" actually broke that formula. The storyline was quite good and wholeheartedly entertaining, albeit quite generic and didn't really offer anything that haven't been seen before. Well, at least not if you are an avid horror movie fan.The cast in the movie was quite good, and I will say that both Sarah Lind (playing Molly Hartley) and Devon Sawa (playing Father John Barrow) were actually performing quite well in the movie and carried it quite nicely. The special effects and CGI in the movie were adequate and also served their purposes quite well. However, don't expect to be blown away by visuals that are out of this world. If you enjoy the exorcism movies within the horror genre, then I can strongly suggest that you take the time to sit down and watch "The Exorcism of Molly Hartley".

It wasn't bad film from the beginning despite it's bad visuals. But the ending part about Satanism it was hideous. Was thinking to give 5 but now it's only 3 maximum.

I don't have a rational excuse to having watched the sequel of The Haunting of Molly Hartley, a film I absolutely hated and which I frankly doubt was successful enough to guarantee a sequel... in which the original actors don't even participate. But for some reason, I had some curiosity in finding out how the hell they would continue the story, or why someone thought it was a good idea to try it. To my surprise, The Exorcism of Molly Hartley ended up being better than I expected... despite shamelessly copying concepts, situations and even entire scenes from other films about demons and satanic possession, from The Exorcist to The Omen, with brief scales in Prince of Darkness, Rosemary's Baby and The Possession. On the positive side, the cast makes a good work in their roles, highlighting Sarah Lind and Gina Holden. The special effects also left me a good impression, either on their practical (Molly's makeup during the possession, the occasional gory moments) or digital (the obligatory insects which always accompany the demonic presence) variety. So, The Exorcism of Molly Hartley doesn't have a pinch of originality, but it kept me entertained thanks to its competent direction and solid performances, and I can give it a moderate recommendation as a decent horror film. Besides, the ending leaves the door opened to another sequel set in a high school, something which would return us to the premise of the original film. Good narrative symmetry. Leaving that aside, there truly aren't any important connections between this film and The Haunting of Molly Hartley. It could have been titled "Exorcism at the Asylum", and it would have been the same... but maybe, if that had happened, I wouldn't have had the curiosity to watch it. The Lord has strange ways... and also B-horror cinema does.

Molly Hartley is not a well-known name on possession game, it's also a straight to DVD title which might not instill hope for quality. Surprisingly, it has a few nifty gimmicks at play as it tries to conjure different setup than most of its haunted peers. It also, sadly, falls face first with corny scares and unintentionally funny moment just when it needs to deliver the horror.Story follows not only Molly (Sarah Lind), but also the disgraced Father John (Devon Sawa). After a botched exorcism, mostly due to his part, John is convicted and lost his faith. Meanwhile, Molly displays odd tendency for murder and unworldly pranks. Instead of going Vatican on her, they throw her to jail, which admittedly a rather realistic choice of action. There are a few different developments that occasionally show glimpse of horror. It creates the right atmosphere, or at least the illusion of such, and with it the movie tries to pull off timely twists. This is already a better effort than some horror films, but unfortunately the execution betrays all the buildup. The use of jump scares is appalling, almost despicably so. Molly is also keen on spewing her meals unto unsuspecting victims. The effect and make up are not well done, they only manage to be disgusting and not in horrifying way. Perhaps, the worst is amalgamation of shifty production and overacting that makes some of supposed intense moments into awkward parody of itself.Watching this is like watching devil spawn trying to be full-fledged demon. It almost does horror correctly, but eventually falls down like a kindergarten kid tripping over his bike and puke all over the place. Then again, one can't help but to give some merit or leniency to the effort and buildup.
