The Doors: Feast of Friends Audience Reviews

Derrick Gibbons An old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
Mandeep Tyson The acting in this movie is really good.
Fatma Suarez The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Married Baby Just intense enough to provide a much-needed diversion, just lightweight enough to make you forget about it soon after it’s over. It’s not exactly “good,” per se, but it does what it sets out to do in terms of putting us on edge, which makes it … successful?
Horst in Translation ([email protected]) "Feast of Friends" is a 39-minute documentary that was released back in 1970, so briefly before lead singer Jim Morrison's death. It was made by Paul Ferrara and I think it is a pretty convincing outcome. Behind the scenes footage is combined with concert performances and for me personally it was an especially nice watch because of "The End", a song i quite like and that will be forever linked to Apocalypse Now for me. Such an amazing tune. Anyway, perhaps this is not a documentary that will turn you into a really great fan of the band, but it's still a damn fine piece of music I would say. I did not know the other songs apart from the one I mentioned, but I still enjoyed listening to them I guess and it is also an interesting watch from a historical perspective. Somehow, the whole atmosphere and spirit as depicted in here is missing to some extent when it comes to (rock) music these days. Not wanna sound like it was all better back then, but somehow I feel we are in need of more bands like The Doors nowadays. Luckily for us, though we have footage like this film from soon almost half a century ago. I recommend checking it out.
