Excellent but underrated film

I have no idea what the low rating people were expecting. It obviously is not an Oscar movie and doesn't want to be. It also did not want to have some grand plot. It's just a nicely done action and gore move in a post-apocalyptic setting. Also, for the review complaining about lack of chemistry between the leads and the wife's unrealistic transformation: the wife clearly said they were getting through a divorce when "it" happened, and that she had been heart broken. Her character at the beginning of the movie is clearly depressed and not facing the realities of their world, she looks half "asleep" and afraid all the time.
I found her change in personality to be quite natural for someone who was awakened by the brutalities they experienced, who realized she wanted to live and that she still loved her husband a lot and was prepared to act to defend that, and her awakening was completed when the last pretense was shattered at the end, the hope that her parents might still be alive.

Seriously. Yeah it's not the exact same premise as the Fallout series, but it does have some major similarities. The many different factions and gangs vying for control and resources, everyone walking around with modified weapons, the distinct different settlements, the booby-traps, and even the radio jockey commenting on the latest happenings in the wasteland, I mean the domestics. No, there are no deathclaws or ghouls, but it still kind of has that feel. The movie itself is action-packed with some solid pacing and decent acting. There are some plot holes and the ending leaves a little bit to be desired but it is a fun ride nonetheless. Some of the characters motivations were a little confusing but maybe I'm just over-thinking it. Overall, I love these kind of movies and this one did not disappoint. It really tried to be cool and for the most part it succeeds. It's not perfect, but if you enjoy it for what it is you will probably like it. Easily a 7/10

I watched the trailer and read all the reviews comparing it to The Warriors (plus Purge and Mad Max) and got super excited for this. But despite decent acting and quality production, the story is pretty much garbage and completely predictable with nothing original in it. I wouldn't even say that the comparison to The Warriors holds any water - they show you about 3 gangs in it, plus a couple of guys running around in sheets calling themselves the Ghosts. And of course what would you do if you lived in a post-apoc word with killers in animal heads running around trying to kill everyone or sell off the women as prostitutes? Get naked and have sex in a car without checking the surrounding area - duh! Seriously, some ridiculous stuff.

This is more of a mad Max type of movie has a lot of bloodshed but no nudity. I would enjoy this at the movies theater very much. Very good storyline and action-packed. The DJ stole the show.
