The Divide Audience Reviews

Clevercell Very disappointing...
Steineded How sad is this?
Spoonatects Am i the only one who thinks........Average?
FirstWitch A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
lyrafowlpotter Despite numerous plot holes here, I don't honestly think they are too relevant to the film. Sounds weird, but waiting to die. How well would you really do? This film is jaw-droppingly bold in its portrayol of human depravity. It's no wonder people hate this, there is no optimism here at all. Half of the characters completely lose their minds. It is scary to watch. However, having a friend whom i watched devolve into madness, and shaved their head, I can't help but feel that this film got a lot right. Despite some of the silly and erroneous plot conventions. It got enough right. The biggest thing that irritated me was how no one could seem to express gratitude to Mickey, or understand why he wouldn't give everyone full access to his food. He a prepper, i not only know no prepper that would do that, but also know no prepper whom in their right mind would let 8 ppl into their end of the world shelter designed for 1. It would makes the supplies run out far too fast. And invites in unpredictability into the mix; something preppers do not like. If anything, this should be a lesson on why you never invite anyone after poo has hit the fan, to your apocolypse party. Watching the characters degredation was harrowing, some of the characters were 'okay', and dealt with things well given the circumstances, others used it as an excuse to give into every base desire they ever had.if the recent riots in the US aren't an indication that this film isn't far from the truth, then I don't know what is. I live close to Portland and the riots here after the election(or perceived injustices) included stopping a pregnant woman on her way to hospital and destroying her car. Not to mention the busted business Windows, the looting, many ppl injured, and some dead. Why? Solely because they didn't like the outcome of a free election! This indicates this film is not as far from the truth as one might think. Some people will use any excuse to do the things they wouldn't under normal circumstances. As I watched and pondered the film, I was reminded why I am a bible believing Christian and hate sin. The fact that many are repulsed by what goes on in this film is actually encouraging. They should be. For me, this film was the R rated version of 'City of Embers' whose sequel 'People of Sparks', was possibly more depressing than this movie. Note: To Zaxous Rokoflokos25, to construe this film as anti socialist is borderline conspiracy theorist, there is no such message. But since you bright it up, N. Korea hates us and forces propoganda filled with hatred about us to its ppl. Okay first off, N. korea is Communist, not socialist, while they share similarities, they are not the same. Go study what N. Korea does to its people, the foid rationing, the rampant malnutrition. Second America isn't afraid of socialism, but it is a stench in our nostrils, because a truly socialist or communist country does not allow upward mobility abus despite cues otherwise, oppresses people. While there are still rich ppl they are usually government officials, and everyone else cannot move up financially as in a free market society. Free Enterprize is the foundation of America, there will always be poor, but here you don't have to be poor. I lived far below the poverty line for many years, ave suffered severe malnutrition, I have had my hair fall out on numerous occasions, but not now. I have been to a socialist country, I would still be below the poverty line in one of those countries, I'd totally stuck with no hope of change if i stayed in that country. Third, it never says it was N. korea, none of the characters have a clue as to what is going on. The characters were merely musing. This is kind of what drives the characters crazy. Having been bedridden for years, i can attest to not knowing what day it is or what's going on will drive you nuts if you're not careful.God Bless ~Amy
Scott Wilson The nuclear holocaust that occurs from the start is a minor character when compared to the group sealed shut in Mickey's home. It soon becomes apparent that Mickey, a loner who likes it that way, has let the wrong ones into his home, which as a survivalist and nihilist as well as a loner (after his wife died), he has kept well-stocked w/provisions for just such a terrible happening. He soon regrets letting in some of the group who are blacker inside than the ones who dropped the bomb outside, and the real horror of the movie comes with the knowledge that the human condition can be more terrible and frightening than any nuclear bomb. It isn't long before the're attacked by men wearing protective suits, but even then, you're kept in the shadows. As the movie moves along you begin to think it would have been better to be outside when the bomb was dropped.I have to say that I've always enjoyed Michael Biehn's movies, but especially his later work after he (like we all) put on the years and looked the part he played (he was always a good actor but in his earlier work that was heavily coupled with his 'good looks' as the original Kyle Reese in the 1st Terminator and Cpl. Hicks in Aliens whereas in his later works he didn't 'lose' his looks, he aged into a hard, weather-beaten, tough good looking man). And his taking part in the making of the movies brought that bleakness, the hardness with a core of hope or caring, that makes you want to hunt down more by the man. Always a good actor, he got better, as well as his directing and producing, giving you movies hard to watch but impossible to stop. This is one of them-it shows you that sometimes you don't know who the real enemy is until it's far too late.
seanwike I watched this movies years after it was released, knew nothing about it. Post apocalyptic and I'm in, toss in a couple of stars, bonus.Well things go from bad to worse to really off the chain. Watching the characters devolve and unravel just kept me watching. Sort of like watching a train wreck in slow motion. You know what's going to happen, it's horrible, but you can't avert your eyes away. Just like this movie, when things go south, you're on the ride until it's over, very compelling. Not an easy movie to watch, certainly not for the faint of heart. This is a "take a shower after viewing" type of movie. And you still won't be able to get the feces off of you. (there's the spoiler)
ronbeebe2 I really, really like post-civilization movies. Post apocalyptic or otherwise. This one intrigued me for obvious reasons, however, there was so little character development, that I watched the entire film only to see how it ended. I felt that it could have been filmed better, more raw, more gritty, and that the characters themselves (meaning who was chosen to play each character) was not too far fetched, rather, the script needed some MAJOR tweaking. Another thing that I strongly despise is loose ends. Since I am not planning to spoil the movie, I will leave it at that. Premise: A+ Effects: Solid B Script: D Character Development: F
