Distraught, confused, and half-wild with fear, Sarah Carter emerges alone from the Appalachian cave system where she encountered unspeakable terrors. The Descent: Part 2 Audience Reviews

SnoReptilePlenty Memorable, crazy movie
Freaktana A Major Disappointment
Stoutor It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
Philippa All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
boallanjohansen Different people chased by the same blind albino creatures in the same cave. Walking around in well lit cavesA crawler crawling unnoticedA crawler jumping outScreamingSomeone getting mauled or killedMix the 5 elements above randomly. There, I saved you 1,5 hours of your life. The claustrophobia and suspense from the first movie can never be reproduced, but did they have to go out of their way to make this the LEAST claustrophobic and the MOST predictable movie of all times. Even the scene where one of the party members got caved in was less claustrophobic or scary than the silverfish infected kitchen in my first studio apartment. The plot twist in the end was literally the most obvious in the history of storytelling. As soon as old man Ed Oswald in the beginning of the movie reveals that his grandfather was lost in the mines, your first thought will inevitably be: "Oh, then he's probably feeding the monsters or something"The last clip of the movie, with a crawler jumping at the screen, was quite simply an insult to the intelligence of the viewers.Seriously. Why.And on a final note, why would every party member use two flashlights at all times as well as plenty of glowsticks and flares, when light is more important than water, and battery life is scarce as it is?
Julian R. White I really liked the first movie, these days its pretty difficult to find a decent horror movie that actually keeps you interested and doesn't go overboard with the jump scares. But lets think about this, a girl has gone through something incredibly traumatic, covered in blood and hospitalized with amnesia, so what's the most logical thing we can do with this scenario? Yep, lets force her to go back into the cave and "retrace her steps" that she supposedly doesn't even remember and make her show the police what happened. Not only that, but the ending is like "WHY THE %&#( DID YOU DO THAT" when you realize a death could have been so, incredibly, easily avoided that it infuriates you. I mean, this wasn't really a bad film, but there are soooo many things that could have easily been changed to make it a million times better.
justice_for_allro It felt like a decent sequel especially if u consider how good the first one really was.It has some claustrophobic moments, some tension, good and funny dialogue in certain scenes. Of course, cliche's are there but it doesn't fell too far fetched.Good to see some continuity regarding cast, decor set/set design and creature appearance. Also nice to see that some actors from previous film were cast and delivered credible performance. I would recommend it even if you haven't seen the original, which is a must see in my opinion.
sukanya-samy Ya I know, I am one of those who watches movies back to back. And I am going to keep this one very short. After my pleasant (nothing pleasant about it) viewing of Descent, I watched the sequel. For people who are interested, Descent released in 2005 had 2 different endings, both quite plausible and one of them which would have shut the chapter for a sequel. But they chose the ending which opened the doors for a sequel when it wasn't required. The movie opens just 2 days after the 6 women go missing and shows the sheriff and cave explorers trying to figure out where they were. In a parallel scene, Sarah who escaped gets saved and ends up in a hospital. The movie then continues to show the stupid sheriff, about 3 explorers and Sarah back again in the same cave system from which Sarah escaped. Now if you have gone through a traumatic experience, why would you force a survivor to face the same circumstances again and if you are the survivor, why would you go into the claustrophobic setting again? I just couldn't understand it.The movie then just goes from bad to worse with the same kind of scenes, jumps and gore which wasn't even required. Sarah played by Shauna Macdonald tries her best to save the movie but is left unsupported by the stupidity of the plot and irrational sequence of events. Some movies just don't need a sequence (even if they made tonnes of money to begin with). I give this a 'C-'.
