Erica Derrick By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
shalabodov-32997 Coming off of the success of The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight rises boasts an incredible conclusion to Bale's Batman, with visuals and plot as good as its villain. Hardy was terrific as Bane, a menacing presence not to be messed with. Once again Bale and Caine nailed it as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Alfred, giving career defining performances. The story does take a few curvy turns, however, placing at least 2 plot twists into the film, which didn't necessarily work for me, but that's the only issue to be had with this movie. Breathtaking action sequences, amazing score by Hans Zimmer. A "must see" if you're a Batman fan or a fan of comic books in general.
Johnny H. The Dark Knight Rises (or T.D.K.R.) became the centerpiece of many Batman fans debating as to whether or not it was the sequel we deserved or needed; I say it was exactly that and more. T.D.K.R. managed to deliver the same super-thrills of The Dark Knight and then some of its own dare I say more ambitious thrills in making this like a blockbuster take on 'A Tale of Two Cities' while expanding on the areas Batman Begins may, or may not have, squandered in its story and exploration of the League of Shadows. This film makes The Avengers look like a cucumber sandwich compared to the French 'croque monsieur' of blockbuster proportions that is Chris Nolan's T.D.K.R..I love this film; it's a great exploration of what happened after The Dark Knight, and Batman's not the same person he was after he encountered The Joker. Now he's about to confront Bane, come out of retirement since Harvey Dent's demise, save Gotham from the League of Shadows, and maybe Bruce Wayne will meet his untimely end in this chapter. Also Catwoman's in this movie and she's one of the strong points for me. Somebody could argue that this movie is almost too much movie for a superhero film to contain; you have social commentary, terrorism, nuclear weaponry, thieves, the impact of one's influence on children, and of course this is all revolving around Batman and Gotham City. It's suitably epic, over-the-top and bombastic; it's exactly what a superhero movie strives to be. It never pulls its punches in its set-pieces and it shows Chris Nolan makes movies like nobody else these days can come close to.The Dark Knight Rises is a 5/5 star superhero flick that can be argued as one of the most over-the-top yet baldest movies of the 2010s. Chris Nolan knows how to make his movies a gargantuan event.
logicproreviews Let's start with the positives. The cinematography is so glorious to look at and the Bat suit photographs so well here. Wally Pfister and IMAX cameras make a good marriage. The sheer scope in each frame is downright impressive and in some ways, this tops the Dark Knight in terms of scale and coverage. Bigger, grander, larger and louder.I can remember looking forward to this so much, back in the summer of 2011, we were treated to some leaked footage which showed Batman facing off against the masked antagonist Bane on the snowy streets of Gotham. I figured that Bane had invaded Gotham and that Batman had come out of hiding to face this new threat. The trailer arrived that Christmas, showing an out of breath Batman backing away from the hulking Bane. So, I had created my own mythology here. A nuts and bolts battle to the death which could have cost Batman his life. Instead, we barely got to see Batman - Bale only appears as Batman for a mere 30 minutes or so in a clunky 2h 44min film that overstays it's welcome. The first fight between Bane and Batman was hard to watch and I felt for poor Bruce Wayne getting his ass handed to him and literally broken. We needed more interactions with these two characters. Instead we got Wayne in the hole and Bane mumbling his way round Gotham.Hardy is a powerhouse but wtf was he saying? It was tedious after ten minutes. His speeches on the football field and outside the prison are ridiculous and nonsensical. How was his plan to release prisoners from jail to give Gotham citizens their city back ever going to work? I feel that this script was rushed, Nolan was clearly under pressure to deliver a sequel within a set window of time and the grandiose sequences were clearly put in to try and top the film that went before.6/10
JokerMichel So we can learn to pick ourselves upThat's exactly what the movie is portraying First I have to say that The Dark Knight is my all time favorite movie The Dark Knight Rises is not comparable to it's precedor but it's still a great movie Everyone is talking about plot holes in the movie which in my opinion aren't plot holes and can be explained Im not saying the movie is flawless but you must give it a shot
