The Children Audience Reviews

Jeanskynebu the audience applauded
Nayan Gough A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Isbel A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
merrywater A nuclear waste dust cloud encloses a school bus, and the children become radioactive killer zombies. Almost everybody gets wasted. This picture has got some pretty unbelieving sequences: In one scene, a pregnant smoking-and-boozing housewife yells to her husband: "Don't kill Janey! She's our only daughter!" In another scene, the sheriff is shooting kids through a window. Kinda priceless! The sheriff and one of his co-workers are then trying to stop the kids by cutting their hands off with an axe.The strange plot aside, this picture actually improves as the story evolves, getting more and more fascinating. All in all a decent thriller!
preppy-3 A bus full of school kids drives through a cloud of something from an atomic energy plant and (somehow) come out pale and with black fingernails. Also they're suddenly murderous and anyone they hug "melts" and dies.SPOILERS! Pretty obviously a no-budget piece of garbage. Aside from the plot being wildly stupid it's also quite offensive. Kids being killers is no big deal BUT when it's revealed you have to cut their hands off to kill them it's revolting! That aside the acting is terrible and the "special" effects are pretty bad. From what I recall this played only in drive-ins back in 1980. Nowadays it would go direct to DVD and die a quick death. As it is most people have rightfully forgotten this thing. Unless you're a big fan of lousy drive-in movies there's no reason to see it.
HumanoidOfFlesh A nuclear-plant leak turns a bus-load of children into murderous atomic zombies with black fingernails. The trouble begins when a school bus filled with kids passes through a giant radiation cloud. The kids vanish without a trace and return soon as smiling,black-fingernailed zombies.Their hugs becomes deadly to some unfortunate adults, who are fried. The town sheriff and one of the fathers are starting to fight with radioactive killers.Silly and amusing zombie romp with a competent Harry Manfredini score. The scenes of children murdering their parents are fairly creepy and the climax is surprisingly unsettling and tense.Admittedly the plot is ridiculous, but if you are a fan of early 80's slasher and zombie flicks you can't miss "The Children".8 out of 10.
movieman_kev After a school bus full of children drives through a toxic mist due to the nearby nuclear power plant, the terrible tykes are turned into black-nailed monster whose mere touch corrodes the flesh of their victims. Local sheriff Billy Hart (Gil Rogers) has to protect the townsfolk from their prepubescent wrath. The Children isn't a particularly scary film (ie. not at all), but it IS a fun film and can definite scratch any itch you may have for a cult '80's horror flick and sometimes that is enough to recommend a film. OK acting, laughable dialog, hokey special effects, what more do you want? Give this cult classic a try, you'll more then likely to have a good time with it.Eye Candy: Rita Montone gets topless My Grade: B-
