Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny

Okay the thing about this movie is...... Well the best thing I can tell you is to go into this movie not expecting hilarity Because you will dislike it i hated it the first time I saw as I found it funny but not hilarious And to me I was like what a let down But I rewatched before doing this review and it was only then that I realised how beautiful The movie was how heartfelt it was only then did I absolutely love the movie It's not a comedy I look at it as a warm hearted movie with some funny moments

If you're wondering why the low ratings and particularly the metascore, you have to understand this is a film that does not serve in any way possible the Hollywood ideology and agenda, as it is genuine, real, and profound in a traditional sense. It's about love and the transcendence of selflessness, not a trendy egocentric emotion. Now that's out of the way, to take a closer look at the film itself it should be said it is first of all well structured: we're given an abrupt short introduction to the film's problematic, before moving to a slower paced first part, then a great acceleration in events with lots of movement, before later developments change yet again the aesthetic and moral makeups of the story. The acting is superb: this is the sort of acting where you need your two leads to be completely, utterly convincing or the whole project falls apart. And the film does remarkably well at, really, being the relationship and exchange between these two men - with other characters only part of the setting. Morgan Freeman IS terminally ill "Carter", it doesn't feel like an actor's performance, while Nicholson puts in a shift with just the right combination of grouchiness and antipathy, along with the nuanced likeableness of a seasoned veteran with nothing to lose anymore but yet still longing for meaning.Superb stuff. Beautiful ending that does not let down at the conclusion of a very strong piece full of significance and a rare substantial quality.8.5/10.

I really loved this movie. I think an open-minded person would love this movie. Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman played their roles exceptional great. It were really a flawless movie which I enjoyed every minute of.Beside the funny moments and the enjoyment, it really makes you think about the joy of life. It really makes you appreciate what you have and that you should appreciate it. As it's quoted in the movie: Get joy in your life and that others should get joy from you. Because life flies like time. One should really appreciate every great moment of your life and treasure them. This is really one of the main point I rated this movie so high. It made me rethink, appreciate and treasure the moments I have with my family and close ones. One should live a life the way you think is right without any regrets.Really a great movie. I recommend everyone watch this movie. Movies like these ones are really few out there, so one shouldn't miss it. :)

When this film first hit theaters back in 2007, it spawned a whole collection of "Bucket Lists" (a list of things to do before you "kick the bucket", as the saying goes). It seemed a little sappy and contrived ("can those two old goats really carry a film these days?" was one of my mindsets), so it took me until now to see it. I wish I would have "relented" sooner!Basically, the plot of this film centers on two characters: the filthy-rich, uptight Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) and the family-loving, laid-back Carter Chambers (Morgan Freeman). The two happen to meet while sharing a hospital bed, and (though grudgingly at first) begin to form a bond over their advancing ages. When Cole notices a strange "Bucket List" scrawled out on a napkin by Chambers, he decides to make the list a reality. The two gallivant around the country together, embarking on such journeys as skydiving, seeing the Pyramids, and climbing a mountain (to name a few).In terms of evaluating the overall plot of the movie, it is always sincere, bordering on downright sappiness or pure cheese. If you can get past the idea that the two "old codgers" are doing things that would completely tax men half their age, the story will suck you in. If not, you won't buy in and thus miss the emotional payoff in the final scenes. However, whatever credibility issues arise from the plot, the film is so superbly acted that it almost doesn't even matter. The chance to watch such legends as Nicholson and Freeman work their magic together is an opportunity that should not be missed. These men, contrary to the "pretty boys" and "sex symbols" of the current generation, are the cream of the crop in terms of dramatics and emotional performances. So, even if the plot doesn't hook you in, just watching those two stalwarts act will provide much enjoyment! Thus, though not an instant classic or anything like that, "The Bucket List" is a charming little film that will make you laugh, perhaps even shed a tear at the end, and leave you contemplating your own life and relationship with those around you.
