A lot of perfectly good film show their cards early, establish a unique premise and let the audience explore a topic at a leisurely pace, without much in terms of surprise. this film is not one of those films.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

It is an exhilarating, distressing, funny and profound film, with one of the more memorable film scores in years,

The Blue Elephant is a masterpiece as for the story, acting, effects, and the great sound effects. the story is unique and interesting which is written from a novel from the writer "Ahmed Mourad", there are also upcoming movies from his other novels :) the acting is superb especially for "Karim Abdel Aziz" and "Khaled El Sawy" they literally did it the way you visualize it in your mind while reading novel, I never imagined when I read the novel to see Kareem Abdul-Aziz, to play the role of Yahya Rashid, difficult character and it was a real surprise, his role is the most difficult in my opinion because it does not depend on the apparent emotion , but convey all the time the feeling of fractures can not be healed, in his life only one and single hope, visual effects are good also the sound effects are so amazing and stunning one of the best Egyptian movies from a long time really Thanks to The Blue Elephant and its talented makers.

I have managed to get the novel and read it before watching the film. Not sure if that was the best thing to do, but the film was really close to the novel anyways except the ending and stripping down some unnecessary details to keep the movie length and possibly rating. The rest of the details is an exact copy of the novel except changing very minor things. I waited to see the credits and didn't get the name of the scenarist so I assume it's written by the novel author. The film is well directed, outstanding colors and decoration and above average visual effects (Some were done by a foreign team) however some scenes could have been better, and some other scenes could have been taken out altogether as they wouldn't have affected the story line that much. The story itself is a fiction story done by a very talented writer. However if you don't tolerate drug and alcohol reference that would be a turn off in the story. The movie is overall above average with a happy ending and good acting for most actors. All characters have depth except for Sameh (Yahia's colleagues at the hospital who hated him) but that was in the story as well. Also Maya's role could have been bigger.

I waited in a huge line to watch this movie, it's like all of Egypt wanted to see it, I had read the novel before going in and by reading the reviews, I was a bit astounded, so after finishing it, I am writing this review, I would like to say that the acting and directing are brilliant, absolutely excellent, the only problem is, this is supposedly based on a novel with the same name, but the story isn't the same at all! so if you have read the novel, and are going to see this movie, be certain that the story is different, so don't be surprised, but all in all, this is a great movie and I highly suggest you go and watch it.

This type of genre is nothing new In American movies but In the Egyptian cinema it's quite a surprise. The beginning of the film Is something seen in many films about someone accused of murder and being checked by a psychiatrist. The ironic thing is that the doctor whose job is to treat the mentally insane is messed up just as much as his patients. and even though this doctor seems to destroy everything he touches, you still feel that there is hope left In him. What happens after that is very hard to explain, it can only be seen . and that's what's special about this film,it's visually entertaining . The story ending might be strange and you might have many questions unanswered. but good films usually leave you wondering like that. Very good cast and amazing direction. And as was said in the film there's a fine line between what's real and what's not and what makes you want to cross that line Is curiosity. Egyptian cinema Is back to life with this film.
