Elizabeth Moss delivers a performance that while uneven manages to capture your attention. The pacing of the film at times is a bit slow thanks to director Mary Lambert, at the same time she manages to use some interesting elements adding to the mood of the film. Made on a shoe string budget all in all I thing everyone but attempted to make the best of it all sadly John Savage a veteran low budget actor just phoned it in if you catch this like I did for free online you won't be disappointed, yes there are some uneven and poor performances yet it tries to rise above itself and though not completely successful still manages to bring you along for the ride. Enjoy

If i could give this movie no starts i would. The entire movie was pointless, the beginning made no sense at all. It started with a random girl (5mins of fame) who heard something in the hallway then went to the attic ad saw a girl who looked just like her, she ran outside and fell (typical) then when she looked up the girl was standing in front of her and then out of nowhere she just started shaking like she was retarded. Final the main character comes in and she hears something in the attic and sees a girl who looks just like her. Later in the movie we find out its her twin who died 12 days after she was born and only had half a brain or something. This is were the entire beginning was pointless, how would the dead twin know that her twin was going to move into the house later on? Why did the dead twin look like the girl in the beginning if she was the twin of the second girl? If the dead twin died 12 days after she was born, why was she full grown and haunting her sister? Pointless!!! The acting was bad. The words they were saying didn't match facial expressions. There was one part in the movie when the girl seen the dead twin in the window, so literally the alive twin slammed her head into the stove or counter top and fell and was unconscious, i laughed my butt off, i showed my bf and my bff and we were all laughing so hard. I guess she was posed to be surprised, but it looked like she slammed her head down intentionally lol!!! All in all movie sucked! I watched it b/c it was actually entertaining i laughed thru the bad acting and terrible graphics of the shooting her dad in the head and her mother, also the slitting her brothers throat was pretty bad as well! I hope you guys enjoy the movie more then me, it was bad!!!

I loved this movie. It kept me intrigued the whole entire time and the acting was great. I think you should watch it but if you're a horror fan that enjoy a whole lot of gore then this isn't the movie for you. It may have not had gore but thats not what a makes a movie great. I really felt for Emma throughout the movie and could not imagine me being in her same situation. If you're not sure whether or not to watch this movie then I suggest you to watch it. I'm pretty sure you will enjoy it, or maybe just be bored, i'm not sure, it depends on what type of movies you like. All in all I loved this movie. This movie does not deserve the low rating it has!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After moving to an old house with her family, Emma Callan (Elisabeth Moss) is agoraphobic and haunted by a doppelganger that lives in the attic. Emma stops going to college and has friction with her father Graham (John Savage). When Emma is attacked by the ghost in the attic, she is sent to therapy with Dr. Perry (Thomas Jay Ryan) by her mother Kim (Catherine Mary Stewart); only Detective John Trevor (Jason Lewis) believes on her statement and he helps Emma to investigate her doppelganger. When her slow brother Frankie Callan (Tom Malloy) is slashed on the throat, Trevor gives a gun to Emma for her self-protection."The Attic" from the cult-director Mary Lambert is that type of horror movie that has potential but unfortunately fails. The main reason is the terrible development of the characters, and the viewer sees the series of weird events without knowing Emma, Graham, Frankie or Kim or their relationship, disclosed only in the end. The acting of important characters is very weak and does not help to save or at least improve the story. My vote is five.Title (Brazil): "O Sotão" ("The Attic")
