A story that's too fascinating to pass by...

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.

Well, it is undoubtedly a creepy film. There were a couple jump scares but for the most part it is a slow burner. I am more of a slow burn person anyway. I think movies like that can really get into your psyche and stay with you long after the film is over. Torture porn is just cheap and forgettable. What I liked...I liked that this was set in Russia. I think that gave it a cold atmospherical tone and also allowed us viewers to connect with her sense of uncertainty. Different language and lifestyles really takes you out of your element and that can be frightening in itself.I also liked the house. It was beautifully creepy and I also liked that it was being narrated by her daughter.I liked that the brother ended up being seduced into his death by a naked girl!! Guys y'all are so gullible. Everything else was just sorta, meh, to me.What I didn't like ...I didn't care for being haunted by your future ghost. That seemed a bit confusing to me. I didn't like that we didn't learn more about the heroic actions of their mother. It wasn't bad but it's not the best. It's good for a rainy day.

I really like this movie much better than I expected, I really like the start of the movie , the opening scene was very good. The first 20 minutes of the movie are quite slow, not boring at all, then the movie picks ups a lot of stuff happened for the rest of the movie,.I don't think this movie was scary or even that creepy however this movie did want to confuse you as it messing with your head.I like how the movie came to an end and I got the acting was really good.I am going to give this movie a 7/10

A film producer who was adopted as a baby and sent to America, returns to her native Russia and the family farm, where she was born. Strange things begin to happen including the disappearance of her guide, the manifestation of ghosts, an apparition of herself, and the appearance of another man who may have an explanation, or even a connection......This film had a lot of potential, showing the flip side of someone's life, if they hadn't had something happen to them at the last second. You know those movies where someone is going to get shot, and at the last minute they are saved by someone else? This is what would happen if that someone else wasn't there. It sounds very promising, and in the hands of an able director, the story would have been well told, but instead,me get this borefest that has a decent twist to it, but doesn't know how to deal with it.So we are left to the obvious brother and sister walking around the house, walking into zombified versions of each other, and then get treated to a reconstruction of the two as babies, with a little bit of Hannibal thrown in for good measure. And that's the film, the two leads have no chemistry together, and Roden looks like he's been forced at gunpoint to do this.I wouldn't bother, it sounded good, but self heating cans of coffee did too, and look how many people regret having them.

movie starts out OK. the scene is set well, the acting is good and its all very spooky. what the film lacks is any sort of sense of progression. in fact, as the movie went on it reminded me a lot of 'lost' the TV series where there were some great outlandish ideas that were very cool and you kept watching because you were interested in how they would be resolved. they are not. the films plot seems to be just a skeleton to hold all these ideas together. there's no payoff for watching and the more you watch the more sick you feel because it has that ' I'm gonna throw up' feel to it. credit for the great setup and the initial scares but can't recommend it too strongly.
