Telugu Dubbed Version ANNA Is a big disaster collected only 2.5Cr(Without Dubbing Tax) Where TamilNadu Theatre owners released the movie with the amount which is less than 40% Of minimum guarantee... producer cried in press meet by quoting that " He already had 15cr loss for delay release and sure he'll beg in streets by vi jay" movie collections in TN Were below average.. and It successfully became one of the biggest record in Disaster Record By Beating Kadal(16Cr Loss) where Thalaivaa had 25cr loss (15cr more than Sura,another ultimate disaster flick by vi jay)

javedkalam23 Thalaivaa – A True ReviewAfter playing as a military jaw-an, a ruthless officer busting the sleeper cells, Vijay has joined hands with AL Vijay for Thalaivaa .With the expectation skyrocketing through the roof after Thupakki, has Thalaivaa ultimately satisfied everyone?What is the plot?The storyline is an age old one that we have heard , seen or imagined in all possible ways. So what is it? Its about a guy (Vishwa) who lives his life abroad(Australia) handling packaged water distribution with dance being his only passion while his father(Sathyaraj) is in Mumbai who has a business of his own.Vishwa then meets an Indian girl(Meera), immediately falls in love with her and vice versa.Surprisingly the girl's father(Suresh) also gives consent for their betrothal but only after meeting Vishwa's father in Mumbai before the wedding.So all three leave for India in order to meet Ramadurai(Vishwa's father played by Sathyaraj) only to be received and rerouted to different places each time by Ramadurai's henchmen before meeting Ramadurai.Finally Vishwa confronts his father on what is his real business and why exactly he needs to hide like a fugitive .He also persuades his father to return with him to Australia leaving all this behind.Ramadurai then goes on to explain that the people in Mumbai need him more than Vishwa needing his father.In an unexpected of turn of events, Ramadurai is killed and Vishwa is asked to leave the country for his own safety.What does Vishwa decide ? Return back ? avenge his father ? or stay in Mumbai and take the role of his father.This forms the rest of the story. There are even a couple of 'whoa!' moments which you would have never expected even in this type of old story. Thanks to AL Vijay . Watch out!As mentioned earlier, it is a plain story so straight that it doesn't confuse you even though it resembles yesteryear movies like Nayagan and Sarkar. Maybe that's why AL Vijay had clearly mentioned at the start of the movie that he was always inspired by their movies.Safe!The CastVijay as Vishwa has been brilliant from the start till the end. Be it the loving dancer with the cute expressions or the menacing leader with the subtle yet powerful mannerisms, Vijay seems to have pulled it off effortlessly and has appealed to the masses once again."Return of the King", does suit him.Sathyaraj as Ramadurai has done complete justice to his role.Though he comes for only a brief amount of time , the depth of his character is shown gracefully making us believe no other actor could have done better than him.His costumes have already created style statements .In future if they want to depict a don or a leader,they will have to follow his dress code.Hats off sir !Amala Paul as Meera, is bubbly, beautiful but has also proved that she is not just merely a glamour doll.After Deivathirumagal, she has once again grabbed a meaty role in Thalaivaa thanks to AL Vijay.Santhanam at his usual very best. There were no forced scenes and all were hilarious resulting in thunderous applause for his every one liner. Abimanyu Singh has exactly portrayed what his character demanded though his role seemed weaker than the one he portrayed in Velayutham.There are several other supporting characters who have lifted the movie to even greater heights. Rajiv Pillai,as one of Vijay's henchmen, Manobala, Ponvannan, Raghini,Udhaya,Suresh,Nasar,Subbu Panchu,Rekha and many more. Everyone fit in the movie perfectly. Even the guy in the Bhojpuri bar,interactions between the pick-pocket and Vijay ,all were crafted very well.("Acchha Kidhar ?")Music and BGMUsually Vijay's movies have songs that are chart busters. Here , while hearing the songs we are constantly reminded about GV's style. Still it works for the audience.If you have just heard the audio and still find it hard to give credit to the music director, wait till you hit the theaters, the visuals will blow your minds.BGM could have been better at the climax portions.NegativesEnough being said about the positives,there are one or two negatives(if you want to call them as negatives you can,I'd rather just say a slip or two).One is the storyline,old wine in a new bottle,but wine is still wine. And the next one is ,few scenes from the first half (for instance Sam Anderson part) were really not necessary.But they were included for commercial element to lure in family audiences.And it has clicked too.People are loving it already.And the last one is the length of the movie .But if you are really enjoying the movie, why should it make any difference.Should you watch?If you are a neutral fan and have a soft spot or liking for Vijay and his movies, you cannot miss this movie. You need to watch it at least once. And hardcore fans out there, i needn't have to tell you.And for the rest, you guys can just watch once at the maximum. After Thalaivar movies and then Dhill,Anniyan,Thupakki and Vishwaroopam,I personally felt Thalaivaa had scenes that gave me goosebumps(especially the entry after the transformation just before the Thalaivaa song and Y.Gee Mahendran's dialog "Thalaivan'grathu.." at the court). After several hurdles in releasing , piracy threatening to kill the movie and story that looks like old blue sky that we see everyday I should say both Vijays have comfortably accomplished on whatever they intended . The final verdict From a Hardcore VJ fan's perspective : 4.25/5 From the rest : 3.5/5 (only because of the hype that was created by Thupakki, else easily 4/5)

Vijay's Thalaivaa has courted controversy after theaters in Chennai which originally intended to play the film received bomb threats, thus leading to a no-show on the first week of its release. It has however reached a cinema hall in the quaint but economically mushrooming city of Vadodara, my home-town. And my brothers, or rather bros, in Chennai, consider yourself saved (except for that poor fan-boy who committed suicide after his idol Vijay 's ( i.e. the lead actor and not A.L. Vijay ,the director) film didn't see a release in Chennai. Bro, a word of advice: there are better things worth giving up your life for)! For the film is such a god-damn ridiculous piece of trash it should be kept out of human reach.I believe one S R K Karnan has filed petition with the Chennai High Court alleging that the film portrays the lives of his father and grand- father, two social leaders in Mumbai's slum-ridden area of Dharavi, in a highly unflattering light by distorting facts and depicting the two men as dons and thugs. His petition would probably be rejected, but if he does make another one claiming his lineage is portrayed as boneheaded idiots, he'd probably win the claim. Thalaivaa is hardly a biopic. Neither is it about "the people" as the protagonists in the film often claim. It isn't about Anna, who if Karnan's claim is true has been based on his granddad. Neither is it about Karnan's father. It's all about the idiotic hero Vijay. His screen-time and close-up shots confirm this. He dances , he romances, he sings, he jokes, he does dollops of dishum- dishum (fight) and some poor imitation of Robert Di Nero in Godfather and Abhishek Bachchan in Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar/Sarkar Raj, whenever he gets a free time from all the dancing, romancing and dishum- dishuming.He's a wannabe dada/don. The film itself is a wannabe Godfather, a wannabe Sarkar, a wannabe typical-Indian-romance (but with twist) and at times even a wannabe ABCD (Prabhudeva's film on dance). It spends much of its time worshiping its hero Vijay, to an extent that it kills of Anna's character (played competently by Sathyaraj) pretty quickly. It wastes little time to reveal its true intentions of becoming another in the endless list of forgettable kitschy 'romance-drama-action' money- spinners that are dumped on mass audiences by Kollywood and Bollywood. Sathyaraj, playing Anna, is a former coolie who eventually becomes the protector of honest slum-dwellers of Dharavi by delivering justice through violence and force. But the film relegates him to a shadow, one appearing occasionally to tell his son how busy he is, as soon as Vijay enters. He plays Anna's NRI son-settled-in-Melbourne Vishwa, and the film abruptly switches gear from dead-serious drama to hokey-jokey comedy. Comedian Santharam joins in as Vishwa's buddy Logu to fuel the film's path of self-destruction, and for a while we get an unappetizing feel of watching 'Sarkar + Comedy'.Enter love interest Meera (played by dusky beauty Amala Paul) and the film enters 'romance mode', spending almost an hour till we exclaim "Oh my goodness! What happened to the original plot?!!" (that comes right before the interval, so you can be bold enough and try to ask whether you can come in after interval and pay half the ticket price. I wouldn't recommend that either as things get even worse post-interval). Vishwa and Meera participate in a dance contest and win, overcoming hurdles like being attacked by their competitors. But why are these things important in a film about Dharavi, its people and its self-proclaimed leaders? Why on earth would he think including a series of comedy sketches, one involving a cook who cannot cook, another about a bunch of single-men in Melbourne pining for Meera and the third involving Meera lying about her marriage with a sleazy-looking B-grade movie star, would be a good idea? Because they absolutely do nothing to further the plot, and they last as long as Durex condoms. And how ridiculous is it for a film to forget itself, and jump from drama to comedy to romance and return only to kill of the character of Anna, poor Anna in a car blast? Twists before the second half – Meera and her dad turning out to be undercover police after they visit Mumbai along-with Vishwa under the pretext of discussing with Anna about Vishwa's marriage with Meera, and a guy named Bhima claiming responsibility for killing Anna to avenge his father's murder (Anna had killed a hate-monger named Varadarajan Mudaliar in the past). Bhima is really a weirdo – he meditates chanting Anna's name (then Vishwa's; actually the words chanted during meditation help in relaxation so it's hard to understand how chanting one's villain's name will increase animosity towards that subject: weird spirituality) and he sounds like an evil cyborg, credit awful dubbing (he's played by Abhimanyu Singh, a pucca Punjabi puttar). Vishwa meanwhile spends his time either channeling his inner Sylvester Stallone/Salman Khan, pounding men after men with brute energy, or drinking bhaang and doing masti (fun). The condition of this film post- interval turns from rubbish to muck to sheer atrocity.. I recommend a CT scan after watching this film.
