One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

A very interesting style to the animation; quite simplistic in a way, some of the cityscapes reminded me a little of the work of the artist L. S. Lowry. Still, great to look at and also quite a complex plot; maybe complex is the wrong word here, let's say I found it quite complex but that may be because I was following it via the subtitles (never all that easy with a very wordy script). Performance-wise, I know it's quite hard to tell in a foreign language, but I'll give honourable mentions to the voice talents of; Kazunari Ninomiya as Kuro / Itachi, Yû Aoi as Shiro, Yûsuke Iseya as Kimura, Kankurô Kudô as Sawada and Min Tanaka as Suzuki.Having read a few reviews I've noticed that several reviewers struggled to get into this one. I had no problem, although I did find some of the plot a little too far-fetched. Yes, it's obviously set in a different world to our own but its roots seem very grounded here; the 'flying men' were (maybe) a step too far (for me). Having said that, I still found it quite satisfying and highly enjoyable! Certainly one I would watch again at some point; if just for the fantastic 'minator' sequence.SteelMonster's verdict: RECOMMENDED.My Score 7.3/10IMDb Score: 7.5/10 (based on 4,507 votes at the time of going to press).MetaScore: 65/100: (Based on 9 critic reviews provided by Metacritic.com at the time of going to press).Rotten Tomatoes 'Tomatometer' Score: 72/100 (based on 18 reviews counted at the time of going to press).Rotten Tomatoes 'Audience' Score: 32/100 'Want To See' (based on 7,335 user ratings counted at the time of going to press). You can find an expanded version of this review on my blog: Thoughts of a SteelMonster.

This movie is quite something, I didn't know what to expect when i bought the DVD online, But i did make the mistake of allowing my 8 year old little sister to watch it with me without first watching the movie myself, Not that she didn't enjoy it but some scenes were inappropriate with sexual references, Gore and Disturbing Scenes. But luckily she was too young to understand most of it. (the UK age rating is 12 but i would disagree and bump it up to a 15)Anyway, This movie was quite a beautiful movie, with stunning scenes which are very detailed, The English Dub is surprisingly great (Most dubbed anime tend to be quite bad) The music is beautiful, So beautiful in fact, that i felt compelled to buy the soundtrack. The story is Gripping and Emotional and sometimes a bit confusing but once you think about it then you get to understand it easy. The characters are very likable (especially the younger brother, White) The animation style is unusual but it has a certain "je ne sais quoi" =DAll in all this is a very attractive movie and a Moving one too, every time i see it i really feel emotion and at one part (you will see when you see it)it actually makes me well up with tears.I highly recommend this to everyone over the age of 12 (but i suggest parents to watch it before letting your children watch it XD)

It was incredible. its so peaceful, masterful, and calming, with a little bit of spice, of thrill and adventure!!!! If it was up to me I would give this movie the biggest movie award in the world!!! This movie made me cry twice, and I'm not easy to cry during a movie, but I did!!! Although it is rated R I think kids over the age of 13 should be allowed to experience this incredible movie. What makes this movie so incredible is its beautiful art style and storyline, but I will say you do need to have an open mind to fully enjoy this movie. Also be a little bit patient, but don't let that ruin the movie for you. One more thing, when you go see this movie see the original version with subtitles, so you won't have to deal with the horrible English Dubb. I highly recommend this movie!!!!

I absolutely loved the aesthetics, it's as rich as looking at some Bruegel the Elder's paints. In fact it's even so rich it would need a life watching it to see everything. And it's sometimes so realistic you wonder if they used inlaying of photos. As for the story I was about to say it is a bit too Manichean to my taste but in fact I am a bit harsh here. As highlighted a friend, some characters are not. It's just that one of the two principal characters is shifting from his dark side to a better one, without giving you the feeling the reality is more complex than this. And above all this kind of story where the hero is fighting himself to become better has something of religiously moral annoying me. Though here he managed to do it thanks to brotherhood, which is a nice reminder that the self and ethics are both something highly socially constructed.
