Thomas Drufke Was it entirely necessary to try and make this film the "Deadpool for Kids" for the DC Universe? No, I don't think so. They very well could have taken a more straightforward approach to the film however, I also know that DC was killing for a success in the theaters. Sure, this is different from the live action debacles they've had, but it at least brought the DC name back into the fold as a company that is capable of making good films. I don't watch the Teen Titans show religiously, but I have seen episodes here and there and it certainly succeeds in giving its demographic silly fun. And me, a 24 year old, is far from the demographic they were going for. The film contains irreverent potty mouth humor throughout, and some of the jokes I actually thought were quite funny. At least, the little kid in me thought so. Does it do anything new for the superhero genre or blow the doors off in terms of animation? No, but its consistently funny and never varies in quality. This may be exactly the right type of superhero movie we needed.7.6/10

Pjtaylor-96-138044 'Teen Titans Go! To The Movies (2018)' is not bad and it doesn't rely as heavily on vapid pop-culture references as the trailers might've lead you to believe, though it does partake in that particular pastime on numerous occasions to neither funny nor thought-provoking effect. This brash, borderline abrasive musical-comedy - and, yes, it is a musical in, essentially, the strictest of senses, despite decidedly not being marketed as such - often falls short of the target it sets in its satirical sights mainly because it ends up coming across as quite childish. The bizarre immaturity of its mid-to-late-teen protagonists (seriously, they don't act like teens at all) often seems to spread to the overall sporadic, young-skewing sense of humour and similarly eclectic, occasionally absurdist tone. The plot is strangely conceived in a number of key spots, the most pertinent of which being a late-game reveal that is broadly predictable but also handled so bizarrely that there are a number of more conventional approaches that would've been more appropriate and, indeed, logical - including, perhaps, a daring comic-book retcon or, rather, reimagining (though, this would've mitigated the wackiness of it all). It's during times when the flick decides it's going to wallow around in a plot-point that literally goes nowhere, with its impact getting reversed almost as quickly as the segment was introduced, that you get a sense of aimlessness and a feeling that the filmmakers don't really know what they're doing, but then the movie will come at you with a few decent jokes, most of which are subtle parodies nudged into the world and forced to coexist with our heroes, and a rather rounded central character arc and you'll get a sense that things are back on track. Speaking of that character arc, the team is sort of side-lined in favour of Robin here. His inner journey is given the most attention, even if it isn't all that nuanced and isn't given much time to breathe. Its completion certainly isn't vocalised all that strongly, either, which is something that might be important for the youngest in the crowd, given it's supposed to be aimed at them. What makes it worse is that it's omitted, along with any other direct morals, in favour of a pretence that this "isn't that kind of movie" and yet another crass joke to see the credits in. 5/10

Carycomic Let's see if the Sealers of Approval will let me be briefer than usual.This is a family-friendly flick if you have children under the age of, say, thirteen. Otherwise, it's only mildly amusing, at best. And, even then, only because of Stan Lee's cameo appearances and special guest voice-overs!**Although, I have to be honest, I initially thought I was looking at an homage to Alan "Alfred '66" Napier. The animated caricature of Stan was that bad!

adonis98-743-186503 A villain's maniacal plan for world domination sidetracks five teenage superheroes who dream of Hollywood stardom. Teen Titans Go! To the Movies seemed like a mistake from the start and unfortunately it really was. This movie was basically all fart jokes, booty sequences and alot and i mean alot of pop references and singing that after a while do get tired. The voice acting was also pretty awful especially the choice of having Nicolas Cage as Superman and despite some good references and a cool end credits scene? It's really not worth it as a whole. (2/10)
