Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.

A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

Super violent and super sexy non PC brute of a film. No half measures here, unless you count the vigorous soft core. Non stop action and that includes the police interviews which seem as violent as the rest. Indeed there is an interesting second thread through this 'my unloving parents turned me into a sex killer' scenario, in that 'foreigners' are also blamed and in the main are the victims of the abuse. Funnily enough the senior police speak and seem to be spoken to in English whilst the 'pretty' westerners who get murdered and gang raped are also English speakers. It may not be a pretty sight to behold but this is a fine example of Hong Kong Cat3. What the polite might call a guilty pleasure.

SUBURB MURDER is another in the long line of CAT III films of the 90's made in Hong Kong - and this one is a pretty typical entry. Not nearly as good as some of the more notable/notorious entries - but worth a look to the genre fan.Kang had a rough life. His mom ran out on him and his father when he was young, and his father was an abusive dick who confined young Kang to a boarding school. Needless to say - Kang fell in with the wrong crowd, and began a life of petty crime. After the murder of his girlfriend and best-friend, Kang freaks out and murders a couple and brutally rapes the girl. The whole film is told in flash-back, as Kang is being held on suspicion of the double-homicide...SUBURB MURDER is by far not the strongest of the CAT III films, and there are only a few scenes of strong violence and rape - but those few scenes are pretty notable. The storyline is surprisingly well developed, and I personally felt that the acting was decent for a CAT III entry. Definitely worth a look to the CATIII enthusiast. 7/10

Kang is a cruel criminal. When he was young, his parents detested him and slapped him when he tried to help or be nice. His girlfriend is violently gang-raped by two foreigners and this is the beginning of Kang's madness.Soon he sadistically rapes foreign women, violates her with a piece of wood, bites off her nipple and finally kills her..."Suburb Murder" is one hell of an offensive film. There are three vicious gang-rape scenes in this sleazy flick as well as plenty of sex and full-frontal nudity. The opening scene is brief but very gory,as is the closing scene which leads up to it.Unfortunately the direction is amateurish and the acting is pretty awful, however if you are a fan of morally dubious HK Category III cinema give this sickie a try.7 out of 10.Enjoy this depraved spectacle of rape and sexual violence.

This is a little gem of a movie like the underrated 'Six Devil Women' and is not widely known. It is another entry from the golden era of Hong Kong cat III movies and tells the story of a series of brutal rape murders told through the eyes of one of its protagonists Kang.SPOILERSAt the beginning of the movie a raped and murdered body is found and Kang is arrested. The police investigation is shown in all its brutality and during questioning, his life is told in flashback. It begins with his parents' separation and his unhappy childhood. He falls in with a group of unsavoury petty criminals and quickly joins their lifestyle of crime and prostitutes, and things get no better when he discovers that a prostitute being used by his friends is his mother. His life improves when his best friend Chi returns from the United States, he meets a sweet girl Kitty and he tries to make an honest living by washing car windscreens. A series of misfortunes plunges him into violence and the inevitable climaxIn summary, if you can handle the quite graphic depictions of rape, it becomes a sympathetic display of circumstances that lead an individual to a life of crime. The movie pulls no punches and there are sensationalised scenes of sex, rape and violence but it does not go over the top like the psychopath in Dr Lamb.
