It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.

It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

Lastuja- Taiteilijasuvun Vuosisata (2011) is a fresh documentary from Peter von Bagh.Bagh and Eero Saarinen are the readers. It tells about Juhani Aho, the master of words.Last Sunday marked the 150th birthday of Aho.He died in 1921, at the age of 59.This movie ísn't only about Aho and his work, but also about his family and people that knew him.We get to see some art of his wife, Venny Soldan-Brofeldt.Sons Heikki Aho and Björn Soldan are represented through their movie art. Also his son Antti Aho has some role in the movie.Claire Aho's (b.1925) photographs take us to the more modern times. The documentary also goes through the triangle drama with Aho, Venny and her sister Tilly Soldan. This is a very fine documentary. It's also very beautiful. The way it uses music makes you sink into nostalgia. It brings the time, the time that has been long gone, near you.
