This is a very strange parody, as it is a parody for a movie, which doesn't exist anymore, as Coppola left the project, as it is, in the first place, parody on Coppola, however it is a parody on Disney's movie either, even though a Coppola's movie is from universal. And, it has a movie stars it in, which raises the bar. Participation of such actors definitely affected the success, as they are adorable.Soo, what we have: Evan Peters as a typical dumb-mannish type prince, but still charming. AnnaSophie Robb as a cutest mermaid in the world. A tonnes of references on Coppola's work and director style, some funny and some just nice, some used as a jest and some as... honor? AnnaSophie's voice over. AnnaSophie's feet. "Part of your world" cover, which i found so much pleasing.there will be no movie from Coppola, so at least we have this parody version perfect on its own

"Little Mermaid" is a 2-minute short film from last year and it's Funnyordie's idea of what a "Little Mermaid" live action film would look like if Sofia Coppola was the director. And the outcome is pretty reasonable in terms of colors, costumes, art direction, set decoration and music. It's tough to talk about a story in such a brief film that is intended as a spoof of something that never was though. This is also why I did not find this film too entertaining. It's still somehow creative and exactly what you'd expect from the title when you know this is intended as a comedy. All in all, nonetheless I do not think that this is among Funnyordie's better works, even with the inclusions of Peters and Robb, who are more famous than most other actors in these little films. Not recommended.
