it is finally so absorbing because it plays like a lyrical road odyssey that’s also a detective story.

This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.

There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Snitch is set in a post-divorce era. A son (Jason), somewhat rebellious, is suckered by a mate who, gaining brownie points for the DEA, tricks him into receiving illegal drugs. Jason in turn is offered a deal: sucker others in the drug's network and you'll get time off jail. He is basically an innocent, doesn't know anyone to be in the network, and won't sucker in the innocent as he was. His father (John), a successful businessman, offers to help the DEA for his son's early release. This requires contacting the local drug's network, and this (in eventum) requires bribing an employee and reformed criminal (Daniel). Daniel likes his boss and advises him to stay away from drugs, but Daniel finally yields to the temptation of serious money if he helps John make a contact: Daniel's family is very hard up and John seems serious.Daniel knows a nasty (Malik), who gives John a drug's job. The DEA could have gotten a good arrest out of that, and honoured their deal to release Jason early, but decide that John's success as a courier can help them nail a bigger fish in a strong drug's cartel (El Topo). It soon turns out that John's second trip will be a one-way trip, leading to his murder in Mexico: the DEA is morally divided. John, put in the picture, redraws the plan to give himself a fighting chance of survival. At this stage Daniel understands John's family motivations, and himself a family man, helps John's plans. Without going further, suffice to say it's a nail biter, and (to my ears) F-word free. A gritty film, showing real courage and concern for others, as well as dirty tricks within the DEA, where motivations are mixed. Was left hoping the cartel's snitch would get her comeuppance. Would have loved Cordell Walker to have shown up and spared me my fingernails, too.

Snitch gives us a different Dwayne Johnson which is great but the film lacks action which it's not that big of a deal but when you have a tall muscular dude and you turn him into a chicken then we have a problem there are many other actors in the past who went from action heroes to family men and yet they still killed a lot of people or kicked some ass but in this case it's not the same since it's inspired by true events. The rest of the cast did also a good job and the film is directed and produced in a good way if you can handle 2 or 3 problems that it has you will probably like it a lot. I give it a 9 out of 10 it's a good movie and Johnson kills it.

The Rock has always been considered a charismatic individual with not great acting, however, this film shows that he has true acting ability that we have not really seen this before. This film starts with the Rock's son being arrested for drug dealing and to attempt to shorten his sentence by helping the FBI make similar arrests. Now this film is a drama and with that you need good acting and The Rocks kills it in his role and you truly believe the situation he has been placed in. Also all the supporting performances are good as well adding to this intriguing story. Another positive is the interesting realistic story which really is intriguing for the majority of the time. Towards the end of the film the action starts and this isn't anywhere near as interesting as the story and just feels like a generic chase scene. Also because this is a drama there are some really slow parts in this film but overall I thought It was a well acted film with great suspense.

From the beginning, this film moves at the perfect pace. Not too Fast and Furious but not too slow either. Realism is very prevalent in this and Dwayne Johnson's acting is the best I've ever seen it. Very believable, not just him but all the characters involved in the film. The authenticity of the "bad guys" (drug dealers, criminal associates) is not at all over-the-top, the locations of interactions (El Paso) is correct and by all means, for a film based on real life, it definitely comes off as one of the more realistic. Much respect to the actor who played Omar on HBO's "The Wire" for his few and far between scenes. Always a pleasure, either that man has been through some real-life serious sh**t or he's just a really good actor. Anyway, not the best review I've written by any means, but just had to say how impressed I am with this film. In fact, it's the ONLY Dwayne Johnson movie I would call a "film". It's earned that title. Go and see this. It has something for everyone.
