It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.

As Good As It Gets

A movie that - in theory - could've passed muster as rejected Tales From The Crypt flick. The movie is three separate stories with an overall framing sequence set in a Bates Hotel ripoff The sequence doesn't really make sense though they obviously needed something to keep the movie organized. Each story itself would've had some redeeming quality but the director went with the cheap route going with blood, gore, and cheap SFX. The first one is probably the 'best' of the three. The second one shows its cards too early to be of interest. The last one is of the "kids run out of gas and find a place" variety which manages to throw a history twist and but then goes straight into the dumpster halfway in.This movie could've been a WHOLE lot better and that's the real waste here (and why the movie gets only a 3).

I do love Horror movies. I do love B-movies. And hell yeah, I love myself a good trash movie every now and then. But this - uh, movie - this is one of the most boring, lame and totally dumb films I have ever seen. Don't even think about watching it. This movie totally sucks. The acting is bad. The gore is idiotic, lame and cheap. The story lines do not even exist. THIS SUCKS. I read some of the first reviews, but like my predecessor said, they must have been friends of either the director or the production company. No person in its right mind could enjoy this. Not even the director can. Every 3rd rate Italian zombie flick of the 70s had more ideas, better plot and more talented actors than this stupid piece of crap.

Just read the reviews. Very easy to tell that they're written by people involved with the movie. Half of them were surely even written by the same person as they end in the same way, with an enthusiastic, "If you want to see a great movie or great horror or a good time or whatever, see Slices of Life" followed by an exclamation point. It's just sad that someone would go to that much trouble to get people to see a movie that's so terrible. Don't have much to say other than that. I get the appeal of wanting to make movies, it's what I'm going to school for. I think it's disheartening to see that some people worked so hard (it isn't easy, I know that, whether you're making something good or bad, filmmaking requires some real effort) on something that turned out to be garbage. All that there's left to say is, if you want to see a great horror movie with gore-galore and plenty of laughs..... well then maybe you'd be better off seeing something else!

I saw Slices of Life at the Dark Carnival in Bloomington Indiana. I was not entirely sure what to expect, but really enjoyed this film from beginning to end! The 3 stories are unique and enjoyable and put cool twists on the typical horror staples of zombies, vampires, and ghosts! Every story pulled me in, kept me interested, and kept me guessing. The story that ties all the other stories together is great too, and really blew me away at the end! This is definitely a breath of fresh air to this genre a worth a view or two!I thoroughly enjoyed this film and look forward to seeing it again! I recommend this movie to anyone looking for a good horror movie that doesn't take itself too seriously.
