I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.

Watched this movie last night for the first time 4 years after it was released. In my opinion, the plot, the acting and the entire flow of the movie was completely pointless. I can't believe actors like Akshay Kumar would act in a movie like this. On top of that, this movie did really good and Akshay Kumar was nominated for a Best Actor Award for this movie! Unbelievable! Akshay Kumar has really degraded himself by acting in such movies. Is it simply because Indian directors and story writers don't have the potential to make good movies or Indian movie watches don't demand certain quality from Indian movies? Save yourself from this movie!

Yes, it's that good. Behind the flashy slick visuals a story of big heart and adventurous love unfolds. A story that changes everybody engaged. Changes for the better.Like the other Indian comedy, which I witnessed not so long ago ("Money Hai"), this one is marvellous. It starts with crazy atmosphere (some serious gangsters are having a party and during their funny talks a tough and very lively hit-man jumps out of the big cake and starts shooting in all directions) that never stops… It's got so many hysterically funny scenes and innuendoes that no contemporary Hollywood comedy can beat it (at least from what I've seen). Like the one where a gangster puts on a triple mask and each mask gets a punch during a funny "karate" brawl scene… You can easily enjoy it all together with your whole family - no one will be offended (a rare feature these days). It's very recommended if you enjoy good bright and clever modern comedies. It has more moral lessons than any drama I've seen in years, if you can notice them (I'll not spoil it by pointing them out here). This is a 10 out of 10 - big respect to India. Thank you for attention.

Singh is king didn't seem worthy to be a box office hit when we see the movie from here and there. But if we see it for the second time from the very beginning till the end we may like it. It has nothing special in it but it can be called an entertainer.Happy Singh(Akshay Kumar) becomes a big headache to his villagers and they wanted him out. He tries to help but he ends up breaking a television or a pile of pots. The villagers along with Happy's friend turned enemy Rangeela(Om Puri) plans to send Happy to Australia to bring back Lucky(Sonu Sood) who may or may not come. That will keep him out of the village for some time. Happy is good at heart and he gets the chance to reveal it when he becomes 'the king of the underworld' through luck. At the same time he meets the love of his life Sonia(Katrina Kaif) by chance. What he does after he becomes the king and the changes he bring forms the rest of the plot. The movie is good if we see it as an entertainer. It is funny and humorous. Akshay Kumar was good. Katrina Kaif was okay. She had no big flaws in her part. Her dance is very good. Neha Dhupia was very good and suited her role so did Sonu Sood, Kirron Kher and others. Songs are excellent. Pritam's music direction with the punjabi touch is exemplary. Jee karda and teri ore are the best songs.Definitely worth a look. 7/10

well, this movie is pretty entertaining for those who don't care about script, plot and costume and boring for those who cares..Story revolves around Happy Singh (Akshay Kumar)a mischievous punjabi villager. The Village Panchayat(wise and respected elders chosen and accepted by the village community) sent him to Australia to bring back his friend from the village, Lucky Singh (Sonu Sood), who is a ruthless gangster in Australia(Known as "King" in Australia). On his way to Australia he meets Sonia (Katrina Kaif)in Egypt and fall in love with her.The rest of the story is about how he transforms the gangsters and bring back to their village and how he marry Sonia.Akshay Kumar done a good job as a Punjabi lad but his get-up as a Sardar is not that good because in many scenes he wears a "fake" turban and keep french-cut Beard which is quite unusual for Singhs but in some songs he wears a good turban and looks quite smart Singh.Rest of sardars (Lucky's Gang) are also not in proper get-up of Singhs, accept from "Guruji"(Kamal Chopra).Rangeela(Om Puri)is a "Clean-shaved Singh" thats quite unusual.Cheap comedy, poor or may be copied script, good music (Especially,Singh is King track by RDB,snoop Dogg is my favourite)..
