Silent Hill: Revelation 3D Audience Reviews

Afouotos Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
Siflutter It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
Adeel Hail Unshakable, witty and deeply felt, the film will be paying emotional dividends for a long, long time.
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
Chiller7 All these years later, I still look back on this as the best looking 3D movie experience I've seen.Ever since 3D has taken off, I think it's actually the wrong genre of movie (fast action movies) that tends to get the 3D treatment. Fast-moving objects, chaos on screen, and rapid cuts, typical of the action genre, are not ideally suited for 3D.For 3D to really look great, you need lots of long steady shots for the 3D effect to really soak in. This movie knows this. All the long-held shots of long dark corridors look amazing in 3D. Nothing looks better than seeing a monster all the way down at the end of the hallway and feeling the depth and distance of it all, something you'd never feel if you weren't seeing it in 3D.And when monsters or other objects pop-out of the screen directly at you, you know those shots were designed to be seen in 3D. This movie has plenty of all of that.Perhaps the most impressive effect of all was the very first shot, right at the start, when the foggy debris falls in front of you, the debris particles appear to be right in front of your face. That was super cool. And for the fans, this movie was actually filled with faithful adaptions and references to the game, which as a player of the games, was fun to see. For example, Carrie Anne Moss looks exactly like her character from the game. The main girl's American accent was a bit wonky, but she also was a pretty good embodiment of her character from the game. And who didn't enjoy seeing the such as the roasted dog on the dinner table?Don't make the mistake of expecting this movie to be something different than what it really has to offer. Think of this an amusement park haunted house ride with amazing 3D effects, not simply a normal movie, and you might just love it.
Riddick-x I will start by saying I liked the first Silent Hill, I felt they really did the series justice. Now we come to Silent Hill Revelation. This movie is total garbage, and written by hacks that think they know how to be intriguing. Good actors, bad acting, but I'm sure that has to do with bad writing and directing. For me there was no intensity to the movie, again because of bad writing, so nothing was scary, or unnerving. This is a huge turd of a film avoid at all cost.
flames-51584 I'm a true silent hill fan. I played the first 4 silent hills multiple times and I have to say.. This movie is sh!t. I seriously want to forget that I watched it and just permanently erase it from my memory. The reason why this movie sucks is because:1) Movie was boring and had no sequence of events2) The movie did not make sense at all3) it wasn't true to the game (again they brought Pyramid head)4) Heather has an Australian accent, which doesn't make sense5) it looked like a cheap movie..... .......134) .....Just don't watch it....I'm still waiting for a COMPETENT director to create a Silent Hill Restless Dreams movie. If the director knew what he/she was doing then the movie could win an Oscar..
bowmanblue Silent Hill 2 (or 'Revelation' as they prefer to call it) could have been so much worse. At least it does follow on well from the first film, but it's basically a young woman walking from scene to scene, encountering one nasty monster after the next (much like the computer game it's based on I would imagine!). It follows the daughter of the first woman to get lost in the sinister town of Silent Hill. When her father also gets taken, she sets out to save him.It could so easily have been lost in the multitude of bargain basement horror films infesting the DVD shelves, but at least it has a budget. The monsters are nice (or rather nasty, depending on how you look at it). There are some pretty sick ones hissing and spitting their guts out all over Silent Hill. There is probably a little too many computer-generated special effects. Some are pretty obvious and take the viewer out of the film, but the ones that are actually there, i.e. the grisly masks, make up for it.Plus the cast is good. The young woman at the centre of the film is believable and not just a 'scream queen.' Then there's the ever-reliable Sean Bean, reprising his role as her father. And, if you can ignore his slightly dubious attempt at an American accent, you'll see that he's an integral part of the film.I didn't watch the film in 3D, so I can't comment on how the 3D element looks. I'm guessing that there are only a few moments which really stand out (things like axes etc thrown at/near the screen).Basically, if you liked the first Silent Hill movie, or are a fan of the game, you'll probably get some enjoyment out of this film. It's not brilliant, but when compared to a lot of the latest horror films, it could have been so much worse.
