I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

It is what it is, I call them 10/90 movies because they have a nucleus of about ten percent American actors and the rest are Canadians - they need to stop shooting in British Columbia it keeps reinforcing what the Canadian accent is all 'aboot' This was a b movie, and while it was watchable, it was not very good. More gore than the opening scene in saving private ryan, but none of the acting that goes with it. People horribly killed and while they have an odd extra puking, the heroes forge ahead intrepidly.if you can't find anything else better, it is worth a watch

William McKenna (Corin Nemac) the skipper of a fishing vessel returns from a storm with a crew member lost to something horrid in the sea. He knows no one will believe what he saw take his friend. At this same time a marine biologist (Camille Sullivan) is summoned to investigate why the fish population in the area has diminished so rapidly. It is finally determined to be not one, but many, mutated angler fish with the freakish ability to become invisible at will and use a long slithering tongue to wreck havoc and satisfy their hunger. These creatures that come from the depths of the sea seem to spend a lot of time jumping from trees and lumbering on land. This ScFy channel "sea serpent TV movie has some CGI effects at times more laughable than dreadful. But this is not to say the creatures aren't scary and fierce looking. I find THE SEA BEAST one of the most watchable from the network in a long time. True, most of the script and acting is far from top notch, but hey...this is science fiction and fun.The cast also features: Mirriam McDonald, Gary Hudson, Daniel Wisler, Christie Lang and Brent Stait.

SEA BEAST is a rip-roaring little B-movie that shamelessly rips off the likes of PREDATOR in its tale of a marauding sea monster that comes up on land to stalk and eat hapless human prey, utilising its ability to make its invisible in the meantime. Hell, at one point the hero even says "It bleeds..." and you can almost see the scriptwriters winking at the viewers.Like most B-movies, this film has its problems. The direction is slightly meandering, but at least the director avoids that annoying and pointless shaky-cam so beloved of B-flick helmers in recent years. The script is hardly polished; we're subjected to padded lines like "If we lose our heads, we're dead" and "I saw it...with my own eyes" and the no-name cast hardly give remarkable performances. And yet, and yet, SEA BEAST is a lot of fun, it's hard to deny. The pacing is spot on, with the viewer thrown straight into the monster action - none of that slow build up nonsense here, just mayhem and death. The CGI effects are pretty poor, yes, but you feel the animators have at least tried to do what they can with the technology available. And it's GORY, damn it! Entrails are strewn asunder and heads torn loose, all captured with loving relish. It's hard to dislike this stuff. At one point, the chief critter gives birth to lots of little critters, like in a scene from Emmerich's ill-advised GODZILLA, but SEA BEAST definitely has the edge on that movie, as unlike GODZILLA it's a real hoot!

The story is set in a fishing village where a local boat captain (Corin Nemic) has recently lost a crewman. It seems a sea monster has hitched a ride to shore on his boat and lots of townsfolk are being eaten (the creature and her children can walk on land and even climb trees!)This movie is so typical of the Sci Fi channel movies...minimal dialogue, maximum carnage. The CGI isn't too awful, but the predictability of the script makes it tedious; any character who goes off alone is sure to be killed. Corin Nemic is the best thing about the movie, but he isn't on screen much. We see more of Miriam McDonald, who plays his daughter, and she's truly awful. Between her constant half-grin in the face of impending death and endlessly pushing her hair behind her ears, I half-expected her to say, "Like OMG! I'm like in a movie!"The movie was shown on TV as, "Sea Beast," which is a better title than "Troglodyte," but not by much. Trite and silly.
