Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster Audience Reviews

More Review
KnotMissPriceless Why so much hype?
Kidskycom It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.
Ginger Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
Scarlet The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
herman-morgan I disagree with the majority of the reviews on this one. I see it as a fitting tribute to Scooby and the gang. Yes, they changed a few things, but the spirit is still there. That being said, one of my sticking points is, yes, there is a shortage of our favorite Great Dane, but the scenes that feature are spot on to the characterization of him. The slapstick is great. I would recommend this if you go in with no expectations.
Robert Question to the filmmakers first. Did you guys intend on taking a classic that the world has grown up with, and making a plot that involves a ghost instead of a person in a mask, having scooby be violent, pushing the idea of girlfriends WAY too much, and worse of all, having shaggy IN LOVE with Velma? Seriously? And what was with the whole dance stuff at the end? Funny, but what was the point? At any rate, here's another attempt to make a live action film with special effects and base it on classics. Only to change around things and make it completely wrong. Shaggy and Velma? Seriously? The joke with Fred and Daff is just that, a joke people have created. DON'T take a joke and make it become part of the plot. And having scooby become RUDE and mean and cruel is WRONG.But there is some stars I've giving this movie. In this case, at least they tried. There was no swearing to my knowledge. The gang DID solve a mystery. But in the end, this IS cartoon network in 2010, so I'm not surprised it isn't as good as it could have been.
C. Sean Currie (hypestyle) the movie will be great for kids, its family friendly, but thankfully is light on the grossout gags that have become de rigeur in 'kids movies'.. Certain parts may be scary for extremely young viewers (i.e., toddler-aged) but its pretty tame otherwise. The plot follows the Mystery Inc. gang as school lets out for summer and everyone gets a job at Daphne's uncle's country club right on Lake Erie. Only, in this town, there's a legend of a frog-monster and a vengeful witch that scares the locals. Needless to say, the teen sleuths decide to take on the case- stalwart Fred, plucky Daphne, brainy Velma, fearful Shaggy and hungry Scooby..The film's screenplay could have come from the cartoons, and the film includes many of the cartoon-inspired gags like pratfalls, manic chases, characters "instantly" having a disguise on, seeing hearts when they have a crush on someone.. the full blown "light of the silvery moon" musical sequence may capture some of the "Glee"-zeitgeist of today, as well as the psychedelic-pop closing number..for the college-aged (and older) guys out there, yes, Daphne and Velma are very attractive..Lastly, Scooby-Doo "purists" who have balked at the changes to the heretofore blonde Fred and Caucasian Velma should lighten up-- it's been 40+ years since the first cartoons premiered, and the mythos were ripe for a slight reinterpretation. Enjoy with scooby-snacks at hand.
kerijohnson11 Curse of the Lake Monster was a cute follow up to last years Beginnings. As with Beginnings, there was just a little bit of each of the different cartoons. My kids recognized bits and gags that payed homage to the newer series. Their parents saw bits from the series we grew up watching. The love stories between Fred/Daphne and Shaggy/Velma were cute and brought several chuckles and a few ahhs, and were rewardingly payed off with everyone deciding to be just friends. For those only familiar with the original series, perhaps this would not be the movie to watch. I would recommend Scooby Doo Monsters Unleashed instead. But if you have seen the various incarnations of Scooby from the last few decades, you will probably enjoy Curse of the Lake Monster.
