Good concept, poorly executed.

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

This is a great story of friendship and helping others. This story helps show how much little things count. People of every gender and age will love this family oriented video. The script is written well and there are great actors and actresses. This story really touches the hearts of everyone. The hard work and practicing really paid off in this marvelous video. There are great choices of plots and scenery. All and actresses actors always work well together. I think that is a big accomplishment. Usually there is at least one mess up in the movie by an actor or actress. that about sums up everything great about this movie(everything). All in all this is pretty much one of the best movies i have seen. But that is just me!!!

Spoiler Alert! The most horrible movie I ever saw! Annasophia is not the best actress to play Samantha. I could do better! Nellie's actress was just as horrible. Perfect, huh! Perfectly awful is more like it. Such a disappointment. They didn't even show the part when she goes to Piney Point, Grandmary's summer getaway. And what about Samatha's birthday party, huh, where's that?! I'm a true American Girl fan since I was 9 years old, I've read all the books, and the movie stinks. I was especially disappointed in Nellie's actress. Her acting was horrible, and she wasn't as serious as Nellie in the books. The way she smiled looked like Nellie was a dork. That made me angry, because Nellie is Irish, like me, and Irish don't smile like a dork. Horrible! Awful! Most disappointing movie ever! It will win no award, I'm sure. The only award it'll win will be the most awful movie of the millennium!

This film was delightful from the start to its somewhat predictable conclusion. A touching story was well presented in this beautifully made movie with surprisingly good performances from all the actors, even the young stars. It will be a holiday classic to be enjoyed for years to come with our entire family. The girls who play Samantha and Nellie are perfectly casted in these parts, and deliver terrific poerformances that lend to the realism of the story. Young and old alike will enjoy this movie, which surprised me by being as good as it was. Although the movie was sponsored by American Girl (who sell a line of dolls from the movie), it was easy to totally forget this while watching it. Hats off to all the sponsors, actors, and producers - for knocking this beautiful move "out of the park"! It just couldn't have been done any better and delivered a joyful and beautiful holiday message that can be applied every day - don't be afraid to stand up and keep trying for what is right, and eventually things will work out well. What a delight!

This is the kind of movie that leaves you with a magical, wonderful, warm feeling. It was full of warmth, kindness, giving, bravery, joy, loyalty, beauty... The scenery was beautiful as well and complimented the wonderful storyline, which takes place in the early 1900s. Samantha is shipped off to New York, where she misses her home town and friends. In New York, however, she shows great strength and bravery as we are taken along her adventure. Children and adults alike can enjoy this movie, and Samantha, for the most part, is a wonderful role-model for young girls. I wish more movies were made of this high quality! This movie was an absolute delight, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
