It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

Lot of people don't know that its a copied telugu movie which has the name "NEE THO". Vijay as his way, he took another telugu movie even its a flop. The funny thing is he took movie from telugu and again it will dubbed into tollywood. Selection and perfection makes an actor to star. This movie is a scene to scene copy with his supernatural powers. Anyways this was a single line story movie. vijay and genelia gave excellent performance. One has to say hats off to producer Kalaipuli Thanu and debutant director John Mahendran for making a film like "Sachein". Of course, Vijay also has to be congratulated for finally agreeing to move out of the formula movies he has been churning out at regular intervals. This does not mean that "Sachein" is a great or a path-breaking film. A usual romantic film, it is only different from Vijay's other films. However, Vijay himself treads a different path -- especially the comic way he has portrayed Sachein. There is nothing novel in the story; it has been told and re-told umpteen times. A college boy (Sachein) falls in love with the most beautiful girl (Shalini) in the college and even professes his love for her. But the hotheaded girl, who does not believe in puppy love, turns him down. The film ends when she shouts, "Sachein, I love you" at the airport. Don't frown and say, oh no, how many times have we seen this before?Despite all this, the film is interesting. That is mainly because of the way Vijay has played Sachein. He looks like he is having a good time. And looks good too, unlike his recent action films. With a fresh and young Genelia as Shalini, the film is definitely worth a watch. Vijay is there in every frame and he acts, whistles, dances and loves in true style. Even the unnecessary action scenes are done in style. No wonder his fans have given him the epithet 'Ilaya Thalapathi' (younger lieutenant). The difference between the 'Periya Thalapathi' and 'Ilaya Thalapathi' is that this one can actually act. John Mahendran, the writer-director, is the son of the famous Tamil director Mahendran. Mahendran's name is associated with some good films, especially "Uthiripookal". Those familiar with Mahendran's films may frown at "Sachein". If not for anything else, John Mahendran has to be congratulated for giving Vijay such a sweet and endearing role. Also, for choosing a fresh-as-morning dew Genelia for Shalini's role.

This was a film which was worth a watch as Vijay has deviated from his masala style and Genelia has become a gem in Tamil Cinema. The plot is good and Vadivel's comedy is worth a watch especially the parts where he tries to impress Genelia. Bipasha Basu has not acted properly and this could place her at a low point on Kollywood. Another drawback is Santhanam's acting and looks. He would have looked better without that huge mustache and he is supposed to be a comedian which he is not in this movie. The climax was not well written and there are a few more drawbacks which the director and producer could have adjusted to make the film exceptionable.

This movie is strictly for Vijay fans. Otherwise expect for the actors dressed in nice costumes and good camera work there is nothing worth writing about. The movie deals about love for the immature and the retarded with a sorry excuse of comedy scenes done by the irritable actor, by the name Vadivelu. I don't understand why Bipasha agreed to act in this movie. Neither her role nor her acting make any sense. Raghuvaran does another minuscule role and he comes all the way from a foreign country in a trench coat because Vijay forgets to call him. He talks to vijay and immediately leaves??? If you want to see a sensible movie, don't waste your time on this one.

The story unfolds in a flash back. Sachein studies in a college in Ooty and his classmate is Shalini, a hot tempered girl. Sachein meets Shalini on a rainy day and both instantly get attracted towards each other. When the whole college considers her a beauty queen, it is Sachein who pretends to pay no attention to her. She gets annoyed of Sachein's behaviour. They cross each other for something or other. After a few encounters both realize that they are in love. Finally when Sachein speaks out his love for her, she turns it down because her ego does not permit her to accept it. Sachein challenges that he would make her say that she is in love with him before the college closes for vacations. Shalini comes and tells Sachein that she is soon to marry a boy chosen by her parents on the college closing day. Sachein does not believe it till he meets Shalini's parents the same day. They also confirm the proposal. Sachein, now a heartbroken person accepts the defeat. She feels happy that she has defeated Sachein at least once and she decides to disclose her love to him. At this juncture, Sachein's father (Raghuvaran) a business magnate from US turns up in the campus to meet his son. Shalini is in a dilemma now since she feels that if she declares her love at this juncture, Sachein would misunderstand that her change of heart took place after knowing his financial status. A dejected Sachein decides to go back and tries to talk to Shalini at least once before leaving, from the airport, but in vain. When he is about to board the flight, Shalini turns up at the airport, the lovers unite and all ends well. Vijay as Sachein has done a commendable job. Vijay does full justice as Sachein, the cool and composed youth who is at ease in any situation. Genelia of Boys fame bowls you over with her stunning looks and mind blowing performance as the hot tempered girl. She effectively brings out the pains of a girl in love, unable to tell it out due to her ego. Bipasha Basu has been reduced to nothing. Her song was also cut. Vadivelu's comedy is enjoyable. Debutant Joahn Mahendran's narrative is quite unique. Though the film has shades of Vijay's earlier film Khushi, the treatment makes it different and interesting. Devi Sri Prasad's music is good. Jeeva's cinematography makes the film a visual treat. I watched this movie more than 15 times, especially for Genelia, she is really cute.
