S.W.A.T.: FIREFIGHT is a typically cheap B-movie thriller that follows a bunch of bland, handsome but soulless goons around as their SWAT team goes up against a psychopath bent on revenge. The only fun moment comes early on as Kristanna Loken shows up playing the girlfriend of the unhinged Robert Patrick, the only actor in this to give anything approaching a convincing performance. The rest is a mish-mash of cheaply-staged action sequences and dire dialog. The main actor is as wooden as they come and the whole story has a clichéd, seen-it-all-before feel.

When I saw the movie was made for video market, I almost gave up watching it. Then I saw that Gabriel Macht is in leading role, so I just decided to watch it despite there was dangerous to spoil my evening. But the movie showed solid script, above average production, simple and clear directing and good, I repeat, good acting of Gabriel Macht and other characters. Most of action scenes looked realistic and correct. The movie kept my attention till end and I was satisfied what it brought out. it is not for watching if you expect action blockbuster, but just take it and will not be disappointed. some of supporting roles are quite good ( Nicholas Gonzalez, Shannon Kane)

I have been looking for a new hobby and watching this movie convinced me that writing screenplays is well within my abilities. All I have to do is watch any blockbuster cop movie from the 80's, change the actors and come up with a catch phrase for the leading actor. If I can convince someone to fund it and make a movie out of it, then I get to meet some of my favorite washed up actors. I feel so much better about myself.As for the movie, only the names have been changed to protect the innocent: Paul Cutler (aka John McClane), Walter Hatch (aka Hans Gruber), Inspector Hollander (aka Sgt. Al Powell), Kim Byers (aka Holly McClane) and McKittrick (aka Fritz). As for catch phrase, She died for your sins, now you die for yours (aka This time John Wayne does not walk off into the sunset with Grace Kelly).Too bad this movie didn't take place during Christmas as that would have been icing on the cake. Having a single name bad guy sidekick (McKittrick) was a good touch. I'm waiting for SWAT Hard 2 then SWAT Hard with a Vengeance, Live Free or SWAT Hard and finally A Good Day to SWAT Hard.

This movie is a 5 out of 10 at best. You know I love movies about SWAT teams, I love guns (although never actually held one) but this movie didn't make me feel the thing; even though they tried. Maybe that was the problem, they tried too hard. You know... scenes with the gearing up and the cameras mounted on the guns and the battering ram... And of course every cliché you can think of is present, like the bomb defused when only 1 second remains on the timer. And let's not forget the errors. For example shooting a guy in the hand with a water grenade when he holds a gun, I mean come on, that's just stupid. Or just to mention another one, the main character first sees the wounded cop then investigates the house and finally he calls the ambulance. Come on! I know he loves his girlfriend (he just met) but in the meantime the other cop is dying! Stupid, stupid, stupid.I'm not saying you shouldn't watch the movie but don't expect too much. If you want to see something really good, watch "Flashpoint" instead. Now that is a cool movie. Not because they shoot every bad guy in "Flashpoint" but because they save lives. Not just the hostages' lives, everyone's. And you'll be glad when they won't fire their gun.
