Karry Best movie of this year hands down!
GamerTab That was an excellent one.
Lumsdal Good , But It Is Overrated By Some
Jonah Abbott There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
thisanant Well , when you have a genie in a movie , what more can you expect other than grab-your-stomach-and-laugh kind of fun and while you are at it , get some other movies of this legend and watch them ( The Angriest Man in Brooklyn , Man of the Year )
vincentlynch-moonoi So ordinary. I suppose that Robin would hate to hear me say that. But I'm sorry, what those of us who loved Robin Williams' comedy actually loved was his imagination. And there is little of that here. Robin didn't write it, didn't direct it, didn't produce it. Which is probably why pretty much any comic actor could have made the same film. And it would have been funny. And it is funny...but it is not Robin Williams funny. The premise is pretty predictable. Middle aged father realizes his teen-aged children are drifting away from him, So, he gets the bright idea to rent a huge RV and travel to Colorado...instead of going to Hawaii for vacation...because in an RV, there will be togetherness, where in Hawaii the kids would have been off finding their own things to do. Good plan, but of course, everything goes wrong. The predictability factor comes in here. All the things that go wrong are mostly uninspired. But funny. Toilet sewage backs up. They are evicted from the RV by raccoons. They keep running into another RV-ing family they don't want to associated with. And on and on. In the meantime, there's some corporate intrigue which is tearing Williams away from his family.Robin Williams does fine as an ordinary comedic actor. Jeff Daniels is entertaining as the other RV-er. Cheryl Hines is refreshing as Williams' wife. Kristin Chenoweth is good as Daniels' wife. Joanna "JoJo" Levesque does okay as Williams' daughter, Josh Hutcherson is better as the son. Everybody does their job, mostly rather well. So, how good a movie you think this is will depend on what you are looking for. If you're looking for a fun comedy family movie, this very good, with good laughs, and a good moral point. If you're looking for Robin Williams at his zany creative best, you'll need to look elsewhere, and probably back several years before this film, before Robin seemed to feel he had to make movie after movie after movie and was far more selective.
slightlymad22 In the vein of the Chevy Chase classic National Lampoons Vacation, In an effort to spend some time with his family during the school holidays, Robin Williams takes them on a trip across America in a RV. That's where the similarities with the 80's comedy classic end as Robin Williams, who has saved worse movies than this, has his work well and truly cut out here.Singer Jo-Jo pops up as Williams daughter and Jeff Daniels has a decent role as an eager to help fellow RV driver on the road with his family too, and Not even he can help Williams save it. Williams is watchable as always, but if I had to choose between rewatching this and going to a firework display on a very rainy night. RV would probably lose.
SnoopyStyle Bob Munro (Robin Williams) is threatened by younger competition at work. His boss (Will Arnett) tells him to cancel his Hawaiian family vacation, and join a presentation to a possible takeover partner in Colorado. Bob decides to lie to his family (Cheryl Hines, JoJo Levesque, Josh Hutcherson) and rent an RV to drive to Colorado. They are not likable people. Cheryl Hines isn't kidding when she says, "Try to remember. We're not friendly." The husband is pathetic, the wife is high maintenance, the daughter is bitchy, and the son is stupid. This is not the Griswold family. I like the Griswolds, and most importantly, they love each other even when they fight. The odd thing is the other 'annoying' family (Jeff Daniels, Kristin Chenoweth) that they run into is actually super nice and lots of fun. I rather hang out with them than this bickering family. The saving grace is that they find their love for each other in the end.As a comedy, it's a failure. None of it was funny. Once in awhile, they hit upon a cute moment. The poop shower scene wasn't gross enough to be shocking, and not funny at all. I didn't have a good laugh in the entire movie.
