good back-story, and good acting

In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

For being a documentary about one of my all time favorite movies, I think that this is a fairly made one. The reason is because it does not only give me more and more hints and understanding of what The Shining means other than just being a classic horror film about a family that spends the majority of the time inside an isolated hotel, but I also learned new things about the movie that I have never ever thought about or discovered until now. If you have watched the actual movie a dozen times just like I have, you will probably go into it with all these new layers in your mind and with all the footage you have seen in this documentary. I am in awe of how massive the fanbase have become over the decades with all of these conspiracy theories, speculations, and confessions ect. I am not really able to explain how much this movie has impacted me, because everything I witnessed on the screen for the very first time is something that I probably will never forget. Overall I think this is a pretty decent and watchable documentary for everyone that have watched this movie multiple times and even more for that matter. It also contains some footage of Kubrick's other popular films like 2001 for instance, in which The Shining has some cool and interesting similarities with that movie. I expected a little more out of this documentary though, and feel like it could have been much more.

Awful 1 out of 10 stars would go negative if could, dumb commentary with nothing to do with the shining.

After spending time with Jan Harlan at a conference, and hearing from his own mouth what garbage all these theories are, as well as from Leon Vitali, who was on set with Kubrick the whole time during the filming of The Shining, it is very clear to me that none of the people involved in this film have anything to add to Kubrick's legacy except rumors and lies about Kubrick's works. Most of them don't understand the technical aspects of filmmaking, not even perspective or depth of field, nor do they understand allegory, and they seem to think they have uncovered sinister secrets that are simply storytelling vehicles that even a child can put together. A hateful gang of talentless bores with no creative knowledge trying to make money off of a genius, but can't even come up with decent study notes, even when their heads are bashed together by this director, who, as a director should have had some respect for Kubrick and his family. I was incensed and disgusted by the whole thing. A completely useless film, in fact worse than useless in that it makes a ridicule of Kubrick. and no, it's not ironic. If anyone wants insights into The Shining, better watch Making The Shining by Vivian Kubrick instead.

Room 237 is not a horror film nor a film,it's a documentary about the millions of theory's in the horror film The Shining because when it was released,Kubrick left millions of scenes unexplained well now a bunch of fans tell there theory's about the film if it was about the moon landing,Indian burial ground's or something more fascinating..I watched this film only in April and when I watched it,it was so good and fascinating. People telling us loads of facts we didn't see in this masterpiece of a film like did Kubrick only make this to tell that the moon landing was not real. WHAT WAS IT ABOUT!!!. There were a lot of things in this documentary that left us shocked and confused..what was the shining really about. Please watch this film because if you love documentaries you'll love this mind blowing masterpiece!!
