Mr-Fusion I dunno if underrated qualifies, but you never hear people mention "Quick Change". And it makes for a memorable comedy. That opening bank heist is some seriously funny Bill Murray material; guy plays his sourpuss persona to the Nth. And to say that New York is a character is putting it lightly; like "L.A. Story" (with a heavy dose of "After Hours", with how the city turns on our leads), it's a place full of colorfully stereotyped characters (enhanced by the casting of top-shelf character actors).Great comedy; the jokes come off well, there are some solid one-liners and it's got just the right farcical touch.7/10

utgard14 Three bank robbers pull off a seemingly perfect heist but their getaway is a comedy of errors as the trio struggles to make it out of New York City through one obstacle after another. This is one of the most underrated comedies of the '90s. It reminded me of my first experience in NYC. I got lost and freaked out. If you ever saw the Simpsons episode where Homer feared the city because he had a bad first visit there, that's pretty much how I remembered my first visit to the Big Apple. So during this movie when they get lost and have trouble finding someone to give them directions or they see the bizarre jousting match or the cabby who speaks no English, it speaks to me personally because of my experience. Obviously I don't expect everyone else to come to the movie with something similar to that, but I think it's still a hilarious film that you can enjoy on merit alone. The entire cast is perfect, with Bill Murray giving one of the best deadpan performances you'll ever see. It's a must-see for fans of Murray, Quaid, and Davis. Definitely recommended.

AaronCapenBanner Bill Murray both stars and co-directs(along with Howard Franklin) this droll comedy that sees Murray play a non-violent bank Robber(dressed as a clown) named Grimm, who, along with his two accomplices Loomis(played by Randy Quaid) and Phyllis(played by Geena Davis) pull off a successful heist, but find that they can't leave the city and get to the Airport, as all kinds of problems and obstacles are thrown in their way, and they end up involved with a real gangster(played by Kurtwood Smith). Meanwhile, the Police Chief(played by Jason Robards) does his best to track down the clown... Morally dubious at first(they did rob a bank after all!), this redeems itself by making the three leads' desperation to escape the madness of New York quite endearing, with many funny scenes and ideas, and the three robbers(especially Grimm) end up as crime-fighters by the end!

jmatrixrenegade "Quick Change" comes a bureaucrat who is sick of urban life and dreams of an escape with his girlfriend. Unlike most, he finds a way to put his fantasies into action by robbing a bank. He has additional help from a loyal child-like friend.The "quick change" from their disguises in the bank might be the reference in the title though there might be a deeper meaning about the need to change on a personal level or how we do change. This is after all part of the conflict -- the lead's girlfriend is uncomfortable about his apparent personality change as he appears to almost cruelly go about escaping from the myriad of roadblocks put in front of them (some pretty funny, other wryly so) while they try to escape the city.The film suggests a certain love of the city since much of the humor is based on various exaggerated expressions of "types" (like a bus driver who strictly follows the rules to keep sane or a big city detective, well played by Jason Robards -- part of a good ensemble cast, about to retire). It is also often low key, which some might not like, but I did enjoy the film as a whole. And, Bill Murray is not so sure of himself, so above the fray, that we don't see him as a real person.Funny movie which New Yorkers might appreciate more.
