To me, this movie is perfection.

It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

There are some yesteryear comedies which till today bring a smile on the face, Pyaar Kiye Jaa is one such gem. The film is hilarious though it's plot is quite a mix of lot of things yet it comes across superbly. The film is a remake of the Tamil comedy Kaadhalikka Neramillai (1964) which was remade into Telugu as Preminchi Choodu in 1965. Actress Rajasree starred in all the three versions of the film The film starts with Shashi Kapoor being sacked from his job by Om Prakash as Shashi has a fight with his 2 daughters and then he builds a tent to seek revenge, Lateron he falls for one heroine Rajashree and then in the confusion we have Kishore Kumar acting like his father Now circa 1999, David Dhawan borrowed the same concept and made Haseena Maan Jayegi(1999)which was a hit but it doesn't hold a candle. the film also has a Mehmood angle wherein he is an aspiring filmmaker and Mumtaz plays a second fiddle role where he tries to make her a heroine, there is one hilarious scene where Mehmood scares Om Prakash which was recently imitated in Entertainment(2014) but with the help of sound effects while Mehmood used his own voice.Direction is superb Music is good, the songs are superb though some suddenly fit in A regular problem in films of those daysShashi Kapoor is superb in the lead role and fits in well, Mehmood is simply outstanding and also received an award for it Kishore Kumar is simply superb in his role Rajashree is good, Mumtaz is okay while Kalpana is okay Om Prakash is simply hilarious in his role he was master at, Chaman Puri is good, rest are all okay

I thought Pyaar Kiye jaa was a pretty good comedy. But what annoys me is that it was a remake of a Tamil film named Kadhalikke Neramillai and I have seldom seen people giving credit to the original film. The original rocks, its by far one of the best evergreen comedies in Tamil. I would certainly recommend everyone to watch it. I have to say I did like the performances in the Hindi film though. I particularly enjoyed Kishore Kumar's performance, he really has a brilliant sense of comic timing. Shashi kapoor looked very cute(as usual) The scene where Mehmood attempts to narrate a horror story to Om prakash never fails to crack me up. But Nagesh and Balaiya's version was still a CLASSIC!

Pyar Kiye Jaa is essentially like Kishore Kumar. His madness, eccentricity is all captured very well! Adding to the mayhem, Shashi Kapoor, Mehmood and Om Prakash make this a very enjoyable movie. The story synopsis: Shashi Kapoor gets a job in a firm owned by Om Prakash (Ramlal). For some inane reason, Shashi gets fired soon. His next Plan of Action - Protest! He camps outside Ramlal's bungalow..which makes way to introduce Ramlal's two daughters..Shashi likes one..over some hurled buckets of water!Next POA! After some hate at first sight..wooing..etc..the couple in love need to have Shashi's parents come over to meet Ramlal..Kishore Kumar, Shashi's bum chum is summoned as a uncle/dad...Problem is Kishore likes Ramlal's other daughter..so the impersonation cannot be held long! But the piece de resistance in this movie is Mehmood, the aspiring film director..In one situation, he is convincing dad Ramlal about a great murder mystery/plot..which is complete with his sound effects..door creaking..wind blowing...must be among the funniest scenes in Hindi cinema! There is also nubile Mumtaz, aspiring actress and her words of wisdom..ha ha..Some decent music..and funny performances with fairly engaging plot make it an ideal Sunday watch! Laugh away!
