If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

Pyaar ka Punchnama yearns to be different from the usual fare, and it manages to succeed to an extent as it showcases the everyday life of young guys living on their own without any help from their parents. The film focuses on the life of three men who are desperately trying to get into a relationship. Despite not having any well-known actors, the relatively inexperienced cast does a wonderful job with all the roles being memorable. During the second half of the movie, there is an almost five-minute long monologue magnificently delivered on the various problems that occur during relationships. The first half breezes along at a good pace and raises the expectation of the movie. However, the second half features some needless melodrama that dampens the overall impact of the movie. A major flaw in Pyaar ka Punchnama is the misogynistic tone. All of the women in the movie are portrayed as villains and are completely one-dimensional. The lack of empathy and courtesy shown by the female characters seems unrealistic.Apart from certain shortfalls, Pyaar ka Punchnama delivers an entertaining movie that is different from the mindless Masala movies that are offered by Bollywood. The acting, direction and dialogs are the highlights of this must-watch movie.

Before I express my opinion, I feel its my duty to tell you that every girl and every guy are not like the ones depicted here. There certainly are bad guys and good girls. A girl might not be at fault always, see Chalte Chalte for instance. Though the story of the 6 in the movie certainly is a mirror for the masses.Story offers nothing you haven't seen before, though a brilliantly written screenplay, tight direction and excellent performances makes up for it. As I said it is possibly the best "adaptation" to a previously explored idea. It is a story of three best friends/roommates who fall in love and start to re think their decisions. The song "Ban Gaya Kutta" pretty much sums up the movie. So an advice, rather not listen to the track or watch the trailer before the movie, they give too much away. The movie moves at a right and healthy pace, the two and a half hours are almost unnoticeable. After depicting the strong bond between the friends it takes no time to shift towards the "love story" track. Despite so many positives there were few elements of the movie which could have been improved upon. Firstly, the movie is made keeping in mind only the "male perspective" and largely drifts to being a "female chauvinist" film depicting the aggrieved males. As I said earlier, it is not always the same, but similar. The female actions could have been better explained. The climax (females) could have been a little different, as it might offend girls. But I guess that would have spoiled the overall effect of the film and would have elongated it unnecessarily. A time skip could have been the best choice. Secondly, the song "Ban Gaya Kutta" could have been better lyric-ed, as it is too abusive and unnecessarily so. Whereas, slang in the movie were the soul of it and were a necessity. These are completely ignorable, especially for the male audience.Direction: Couldn't have been better.Story/Screenplay: An outstanding screenplay. The direction and screenplay rejuvenate the overly-exploited topic of "life after relationship".Acting:- Divyendu is a talented new find in the Indian cinema, a path breaking performance by him. Rayoo and Karthik completely fit their characters. Same goes for Nusharat and Ishita. Riya however, wasn't as promising as others.Music: The background music is superb and extremely fitting. Soundtrack is a driver for the movie rather than an unnecessary hindrance.Overall, a highly relate-able laugh riot, a must watch!

Most of the stories, be it the great Hollywood, the bright Bollywood or good old novels, usually start and stay focused on the the issues of how a woman is usually the victim. It is about emotional exploitation or tragedy associated with a woman. How she is tormented and how she suffers and all that. At the most the pendulum swings half way and delivering a happy ending. For the first time, so honestly a story been told of how men too are a total emotional wreck. Let's face it boys. We are definitely susceptible and there is absolutely no harm in accepting it. I enjoyed the movie for it's so realistic believable story, characters and even the details like the behaviour of each individuals in given situation. Contrary to what the film critics may say, I give this film 9/10. There is no over dose of over acting and false emotions. There is no useless car chase or gun fights or 'action' per say. My key word for this movie is, 'believable'. The story definitely reflects a lot of the modern day men (or boys). Those who are objecting and finding it offensive and playing the feminist harp hear, please don't waste your time ladies. You have had more then your fair share of the sympathy. Now let the boys tell their side of the story. Boys, go watch it. Enjoy it and definitely learn from it. I strongly recommend this movie, not with your girl friend, but with other boys. Have fun.
