Pterodactyl Audience Reviews

Baseshment I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
Aubrey Hackett While it is a pity that the story wasn't told with more visual finesse, this is trivial compared to our real-world problems. It takes a good movie to put that into perspective.
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Mike Stone I picked this movie up at a flea market for $1. Overpaid for it. I should have looked close and noticed it was made by the Sci Fi Channel. That's a definite tip that it stinks. The only reason I gave it two stars is because one of those stars is for Amy Sloan, the one and only high point in the movie. I don't demand that movies be totally realistic. I'm not one of those who got upset because the space ships in Star Wars go "Woosh" in a vacuum. Don't care. But bullet proof pterodactyls that tear people completely in half with one swoop? Are you serious? Add a bunch of soldiers who practice the discipline and tactical skills of cub scouts.
rosebug_8 Like Tremors this is not meant to be art it is fun take it as such. it is a parody of this genre which i happen to like.only downer is loss of the geek and goofy blond so early.dialogue is simple and predictable yet watch it for the fun of it and enjoy.when was the last time you saw pterodactyls? the special effects weren't Star Wars but the flying dinosaurs at least didn't look like they were little clay figures.over all this is a movie to watch on a cloudy afternoon and talk back to the characters.
danthewrestlingmanorigin I've seen almost all of dtv creature features, so prevalent over the last seven years or so, and I can say honestly that this is one of the more enjoyable titles. Don't get me wrong, it's not perfect, but if you dig these kinds of movies, it delivers the fun. First off I loved the action sequences of the military guys fighting against the Pteros' and getting picked off one by one from the sky. As cheesy as a lot of it is, I've never really been as riveted to be watching some of the chase scenes in a film like this, and the effects though maybe not realistic, were not annoying and not as fake looking as for example in Sabretooth. Heck even Coolio, was enjoyable in this. In closing it's not the terror masterpiece that Jaws is, but hey you probably weren't expecting it to be, so just get your popcorn ready, kick back, and enjoy the cheese.
sharkattack1978 This was a decent sci-fi killer nature horror flick. yeah all right so you could tell that the pterodactyls were CGI without a doubt but when they were killing everyone, who really cares. The thing that works with this film is imagination. Just block out that they are CGI and enjoy the ride. Coolio does a great job as the marine Sergeant who leads in a motley crue of trigger happy commandos. There was some decent gore and guts scenes which were well done, had me shocked a few times. I love those "I told you so" endings in these movies they enhance the climax. The action was well done by mark lester last i saw of him directed the excellent "commando" with Arnold Schwarzenegger and the blood and gore are well layed out too. Although i do prefer the old classic monster films when they didn't have CGI just a fairly convincing rubber monster (see Alligator and Jaws for details) this CGI film was better than most that are out there and yeah i wouldn't mind seeing the sequel just make sure it's gory and i'll watch it easily. Just take it for what it is, a beer and popcorn movie and you'll enjoy. Think too much and it spoils it. It's a no-brainer horror. just accept that.
