There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

Poker at Dawson City (1899) This Edison film was directed by James H. White and appears to have been a staged production instead of actual footage from Dawson City. It clocks in just over twenty seconds and we see a group of men basically spilling drinks on themselves. Apparently this was the aftermath of some sort of issue that came up in a card game. There's certainly nothing ground-breaking that you're going to witness here and there's certainly no plot. Fans of these early movies will at least get a kick out of the "action" going on. The cinematography is quite good though.
