AniInterview Sorry, this movie sucks
Micitype Pretty Good
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
OllieSuave-007 A lonely looking Pink Panther sitting on a park bench gets invited to the home of a random, nicely-dressed drunk. He let's the Pink Panther help himself to some food in the kitchen, but making the food gets the best of him, resulting in hilarious results. The man also let's the panther spend the night at his house, but to the disdain of his bossy wife, who vows to kick him out of the house if he brings another drunkard in. So, the man tries to hide his pink friend and keep him out of sight.Plenty of laughs here, though the ending keeps you hanging a little. But, it's another good, entertaining cartoon.Grade B
TheLittleSongbird The ending is rather lame I agree, but Pickled Pink is still entertaining. The animation is effective in its simplicity, it is colourful and also endearingly abstract. The music is still the jazzy and cool music we know and love, with a theme that is one of the most iconic in all animation. Pickled Pink may not be hilarious, but it is still funny and enough to put a smile on your face, likewise the story is not the most original but the efficient pacing helps to not make that matter too much. The characters are also fun. The drunk counterpoints well but is the least interesting and least funny of the three. The wife has some great lines and her delivery helps to give those lines the impact they ought to. Pinky steals the show though, seeing as he's the main character he ought to and he does so just by being effortlessly cool, cute and funny. In conclusion, not one of Pinky's best but well worth the watch. 8/10 Bethany Cox
ccthemovieman-1 After watching over 30 Pink Panther cartoons in which no one spoke, this is the second in a row with dialog although the Pink Panther doesn't say anything. (Apparently there was dialog in these 1965 editions, and two of them in the overall series had the Panther speaking.)Here, our hero is sitting on a park bench at night, minding is own business and literally smelling flowers, when a little drunk man comes by and takes a liking to him. He insists he go home with him, but needs to keep quiet because he doesn't want his nagging wife to see him because "she wouldn't understand." Later, we find out this guy has a habit of "bringing home bums," according to his unhappy wife. Some of the better gags involved the Panther trying to crack open a hard-as-nails egg; the wife's voice, which sounded like Mel Blanc doing a Looney Tunes character, the PP turning into the Blue Panther and the Panther turning into a "caterpiller." That last joke was the best scene in the animated short.Overall, nothing super but it had it's moments, thanks to the wife, who was funny. I never find sloppy drunks humorous, and the ending was a bit lame.
Shawn Watson Sitting on a park bench alone and homeless (awww...he can stay with me any day) the Pink Panther befriends a drunk man on his way back to his nagging wife. Luckily the drunkard has a fondness for Pink Panthers and offers Pinky a place to stay. As long as his wife doesn't find out. So you can imagine, every move they make is scrutinised by the wifey but the Pink Panther uses his cunning skills at disguise to get around her nosing. It's consistently funny, but not amazingly so. Still a great cartoon though.I love the Pink Panther and the brilliant abstract style of the animation. He's the King of Cartoon Cool. No doubt.
