It's complicated... I really like the directing, acting and writing but, there are issues with the way it's shot that I just can't deny. As much as I love the storytelling and the fantastic performance but, there are also certain scenes that didn't need to exist.

Great movie! If you want to be entertained and have a few good laughs, see this movie. The music is also very good,

The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

I really liked the idea to use actual phobia as the driving force of the movie. It was acted out mostly well and as a person who has an anxiety I actually could relate to the main character. But several things in this made my head hurt.1. It is good to make people face their fears, but taking someone with an anxiety attacks from potholes on a road trip seems like a stupid idea. Even if it might work it should be safe and controlled environment, but no, let's take this random hitchhiker in and make a detour. At any rate I would sue the employer of the psychologist, as she was almost as hysterical as Penny. 2. The dramatic sound effects made me think that this might be a parody. A clock - Tam Dam Dam, a tree - Tam Dam Dam! Seriously?3. Why there even was the secondary characters? They gave nothing to the plot except a half-assed sex scene with a boob. And extra indication that it is cold outside. I could somehow deal with all of aforementioned things, if the ending was at least decent, but this was almost on the same level as for The Shrine (except for the accent).

WARNING, SPOILER ALERT!! Penny Dreadful really is dreadful. Basically you see Penny spend the whole movie trapped in a car endlessly cowering and crying, while some escaped lunatic tries to terrorize her from outside. The movie spends more time showing her losing her mind then it does showing anything else. After about 30 straight minutes of he panicking and whimpering, it just gets old. I found myself wishing the nut job would just finish her off already! The character was just plain annoying, the plot sucked, and the ending was lame. It took me 3 tries to finish this movie. I don't mind slow build up, but this just builds up to nothing but a waste of time.

Penny Dreadful is not a great horror film, I've seen better. But what it is is an amazingly brilliant psychological thriller , Penny dreadful is a well made and well acted horror film that will satisfy any horror lovers urge for a good time. After surviving a horrible automobile accident that killed both her parents Penny Dearborn has an unstable and perpetual fear of cars, her therapists suggest that they confront her fear head on. So they take a road trip to cure Penny's fear, but it has dangerous and disastrous results when they pick up a psychotic hitchhiker. Penny Dreadful is a dark and gritty psychological thriller that takes you into the mind and soul of a frightened and traumatized young girl and her fight to say alive. This film explore three main themes, 1. terror and what it can do to you if you let it control you. 2: What certain events in your life can do to change who you are and what you are. 3: What the darkness of a quiet woods can do to turn your worst fears into a reality. Penny Dreadful is a psychological thriller that is right up there with the best and will continue to shock and scare you for a long time to come.

I was waiting for the suspense. I was waiting for any kind of "unexpected events". I waited for 90 or so minutes. I needn't have bothered. Some people found the dire awfulness of this movie funny. I wasn't even able to enjoy it for that...The movie begins with a vaguely reasonable premise; that this girl is travelling with her psychiatrist to help her finally get past her phobia of cars... But once that has been established, anything you can imagine happening next would be better than what this movie puts you through.-Stop at a gas station. "Help! I'm in a car, I can't carry on. Oh OK, I'll get back in." -Hit a pot-hole (twice). "Help! I'm in a car, I can't carry on! OK OK, let's carry on." -Clip a hitchhiker with the car. "Help! I'm in a car, I'm going to die! Oh OK, let's take the slightly creepy yet apparently harmless victim of hit-and-don't-run and drop them deep in the mountain forest where there's nobody else around. I don't mind" -The car has a flat tyre blatantly caused by harmless raw-meat-eating (but generous to offer to share it. Sweet psycho ^^) silent hitchhiker. "No, don't leave my in this terrifying car by myself to find signal for your phone! Let me take one step away before falling on nothing and spraining my ankle to make this into a -real- horror film!"And so on.There was so little to enjoy, especially as Penny spent so much of the time whimpering or screaming at the slightest noise. Perhaps she can be forgiven a little, as she spent half the movie sitting trapped in the evil car with a decaying Mimi Rogers (refering to her character's lifelessness. Mimi's not that bad), but her tireless stupidity was grating.I'm afraid, as this was even the area where Penny's parents died in the car accident all those years ago, that I was waiting for any kind of linking of the two events. Some kind of mystical correlation that could perhaps explain what happened when she was a wee girly. It never came. I feel robbed. Kinda. Oh well.
