I wanted to but couldn't!
Murphy Howard
I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.

Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

This is the weakest of JR Bookwalter's films because it strays from his style of fast, humorous action scenes. Bookwalter tries something more ambitious, moody and suspenseful and he fails. But its still typically watchable in its cheesiness. This is more drab looking and boring than his other films though. There are scenes where the black leading man is locked in cages, forced into a Mandingo fight and a zombie sniffs him and says, "You smell like a brother...". It might be a string of racist jokes or JR made a film thats a metaphor for smalltown racism. So Bookwalter tries to be artsier here and its appreciated, but he forgot to make it entertaining as he was NEVER scary or thoughtful director.

Ozone is the name of a new highly addictive street drug that is often fatal for bums and junkies.Detectives Eddie Boone and Mike Weitz are hot on the trail of drug lord Sam DeBartolo, who's behind the trafficking of Ozone. While running down a connection Weitz is attacked by zombies and disappears and Boone is injected with the drug.He slowly starts to mutate into zombie.I enjoyed "Ozone" due to its pretty high gore level. The main performance of James Black is quite solid and the digital effects are surprisingly effective. The pace of the film moves swiftly and there is plenty of gore on display.Considering the budget of "Ozone" I was impressed with this small indie production.I still haven't seen "The Dead Next Door",but I'd like to someday.7 out of 10.

Goofy, cheap gore-flick from Ohio's own JR Bookwalter(The Dead Next Door) has cop, Eddie Boone(James Black)tangling with the malformed agents of a drug pushing monster(..once a human being who evolved into what looks like a talking protoplasm, with a pig's head)who has created a drug called Ozone which turns your body into something quite grotesque. This monster who sits in a swivel chair ordering his posse, whose faces bulge these bulb-like warts, to commandeer Eddie, wishes to use him as the next step in an evolutionary ladder with Ozone providing the change. Most of the film displays Eddie's nightmarish night of dodging the villains while suffering bouts of hysteria caused by part of the Ozone drug that was injected in his arm when he lost his partner on a drug bust gone awry.Lots of outrageous gore for fans of the ultra-violence. A druggie's head explodes when he ingests too much of Ozone. A human body dissolves into a skeleton. A head is crushed under the tire of a driving car. An arm is severed with the wound bleeding. A female gives birth to Eddie's demon baby! The monster of the film is a badly designed costume, with the actor's voice mechanically altered. When Eddie and Justine(Lori Scarlett), the female he is seduced by who is in league with the monster, transform momentarily into these hideous beasts(..a severe case of mutation) while embracing for a sexual encounter. The director depends heavily on the morphing process utilized in Terminator 2. When humans begin to transform, their faces and skin often bubble! Eddie's world, presented in the film, is basically a series of run-ins with the monster's zombie agents, and his escapes. A lot of the film has Eddie working through the city under siege much like Snake Pliskin in Escape from New York. Close encounters, staying one step ahead when all hope seem lost. The special effects are as low budget as it gets, but there's a charm to Bookwalter's films that might rub off on those just seeking a flick to consume 90 minutes. It has enough insanity, I believe, to please an audience looking for such over-the-top grue and strange characters.

Ozone. Yep, it really is hard to discuss this movie. It is pretty bad, I have seen much worse and I really had fun laughing at it. The film looks like they used a video camera(I really think they did), during a fight the poorly designed prop weapons are switched with ones made of aluminum foil and the silly monster in it is oh so bad. I actually rushed over to my friends house to enjoy this masterpiece of horrible artistic beauty. I don't regret the film and I think you should give it a try if you enjoy really, really, really, really cheesy/poorly made films like me.
