A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

I feel they did a much better editing job in this picture (The Machinist) than in "November". Both are good flicks to watch, not the same old tripe, cranked off the assembly line. For the most part this picture (November) keeps you in the dark all the way to the end as to what's going on, it was to jerky. For example, I was not sure if the dinner scenes with mom were different days, or the same scene repeated in different ways. This leaves the viewer confused. And this happens over and over with most of the scenes in the movie. As I said before you should give The Machinist a look and see if I'm not right on this, editing can make or break a picture.

If you ever had a bad dream that went on and on and you woke up before it ended, this movie is it. Like some bad dreams in which the dreamer revisits previous places and things have changed, that happens several times in this movie. At the beginning one believes that this is going to be a mystery movie in which Courtney Cox will play a role in catching a killer. But then it dissolves and falls apart. Perhaps the writers and the director knew where they were going but they failed to let the audience in on the secret. If anyone thinks this movie is about the bad guy getting justice, that it isn't, and it will leave most viewers very unsatisfied.I didn't get it the first time I saw it so like a dummy I got the DVD and replayed and replayed it and still don't get it. If the movie had an ending I don't what it was. There were so many versions of what happened that the viewer never knows which version actually happens. At one point I suspected that Courtney Cox was dead and these were flashbacks but a number of things occur which make that seem implausible.Anne Archer appears in three scenes all in the same setting. In the first scene it is assumed that she is a friend. In the second, she appears as Cox's mother as she does in the last scene Lastly, the only thing R rated in this movie, is the F word was used twice, the second time in a repeat of a previous scene. Otherwise, it is a PG-13 movie because of violence. I have always been curious to find out if Courtney Cox can act. I still don't know. There has been much speculation as to what this movie is all about but my conclusion is that is a story about a bad dream a woman had.

I saw this film on a whim. I had not great expectations for either the film or Courtney Cox, who I remembered as an airhead on Friends. However, I was pleasantly surprised. I was taken in within the first few minutes and spent my time trying to figure out what actually happened. I had several theories, but it was not until the end that the secret is revealed. My jaw dropped to the floor and I knew that I had seen a beautiful work of art. I had to watch it again to see if I could pick out the clues. There were very few. But it made perfect sense. Cox was wonderful! Her performance in this movie made a fan out of me. I cannot wait for her next dramatic role. The story, the directing, the cinematography as well as the acting are superb. I cannot recommend this movie any more than 'see it' Make up your own mind, but give it a chance. You will be amazed.

Among the worst movies you will ever see. It is a movie that offers a poor plot, and is really a short played over 3 times with various endings. You really have no idea what is going on at any one point in the movie. It would be nice to say the acting is a good part but that too is lousy. Then of course there is the photography part which was what intrigues me in the first place, but that was lousy too. There are several ridiculous parts to the movie like Courtney cutting herself on a picture that fell off the wall, no blood, and when the photo is retrieve the glass is cracked but nothing protruding where one could be cut. Duh! How dumb. If you like stupidity this is the movie for you. All in all if you have nothing else to do on a rainy day, watch the rain instead.
